    Double-header opens Kampala Region third division season as split league format is piloted

    Matchday one of the Kampala Region third division league opened on Sunday 2nd November 2025 at FUFA Stadium Kadiba with a double-header as the 2025/2026 season officially got underway.

    Proline FC had taken the lead through Morris Okello before Jonathan Kinene equalised for Lufula SC and the opening fixture ended 1–1.

    Both sides pushed for a winner late on but the ninety minutes closed with the points shared.

    Under the floodlights in the second fixture Mbogo FC collected all three points with a 2–0 victory over Kisugu United. Hamuza Kasumba was the difference on the night as he struck twice in the thirty-fifth and seventy-eighth minute to secure a winning start for Mbogo.

    Entrance was free and both matches were broadcast live on FUFA TV and FUFA Radio.

    Matchday one continues on Tuesday 04 November 2025 with all fixtures at 4.00pm across seven different venues. Edgars FC will host Police Young FC at Muteesa II Stadium. Buganda Road FC play Black Stars FC at Kanyanya Express Ground. Water FC host Mutongo FC at UICT Nakawa. Kireka United FC meet Lukuli Hearts UTD FC at Kings Park Bweyogerere. Born Talent FC will face PCCP Football Club at Kyambogo College. Nsambya SC entertain Wembley Boys FC at Yes Center Nsambya. Lungujja Galaxy SC take on Ntinda United FC at IUIU Kabojja Ground.

    The league is also piloting the split league format this season following the FUFA Executive Committee decision to suspend the format in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League. FUFA is injecting over 800 million Uganda shillings into the competition which will go towards prize money and locker room bonuses as well as man of the match awards and referees and operational costs. The league winner will receive up to 20 million Uganda shillings.

    The Kampala Region third division league finally begins this weekend as the 2025/2026 campaign gets underway. Matchday one opens on Sunday 02 November 2025 with a double-header at FUFA Stadium Kadiba. Lufula SC will face Proline FC at 4.00pm while Mbogo FC take on Kisugu United at 7.00pm under the floodlights at the same venue.

    Entrance is free and the matches will be broadcast on FUFA Tv and FUFA Radio.

    FUFA and the 18 Kampala Regional Football Association third division clubs agreed to pilot the split league format for the 2025/2026 season in the league after the FUFA Executive Committee decision to suspend the format in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

    FUFA will inject over 800 million Uganda shillings into the campaign to go towards prize money and locker room bonuses as well as man of the match awards and referees plus operational costs. The league winner will walk away with up to 20 million Uganda shillings.

    New League format to pilot with Kampala Region 3rd Division Clubs

    The FUFA Executive Committee has agreed with the 18 Kampala Regional Football Association 3rd Division Clubs to implement the split league format for the 2025/6 season

    FUFA will inject over 800 million Uganda shillings to be allocated to prize money, locker-room bonuses, man of the match awards, referees, financial support and operational costs of the Kampala Regional League of 18 teams. The winner of the league will receive up to 20 million Uganda shillings.

    Regional League Promotional Playoffs Fixtures Released

    The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) competitions department has released fixtures for the regional league promotional playoffs today.

    The matches will be played on a home and away basis with the first leg taking place from the 21st to 23rd June 2024 while the second leg will be played from the 27th to the 28th June 2024.

    Notes

    I. The team with a better goal aggregate at the end of the second leg match shall be the winner of the tie.
    II. If teams are still tying by rule 14(5) b (i) above, the team with greatest number of away goals scored in the matches between the concerned teams shall determine the winner.
    III. If the teams are not separated by 14(5)(b)(ii) above, the winner of the Penalties (penalty shoot-out) mark shall be the winner.
    IV. If the teams are not separated by 14(5)(b)(iii) above, a coin may be tossed to determine the winner where time cannot allow for Penalties (penalty shoot-out) or their continuation.

    Development of players: FUFA Executive approves updated regulations for immediate implementation

    FUFA has issued Circular No. 1173 concerning regulations for development of players in line with the FUFA Hattrick for the next five years under the federation’s Technical Plan.

    Following extensive consultations with stakeholders, the FUFA Executive Committee has now approved the release of updated regulations for immediate implementation.

    The FUFA Deputy CEO Decolas Kiiza confirmed the latest development in a circular issued on Thursday evening;

    ‘FUFA wishes to thank all stakeholders that have effectively participated in the consultations and sharing feedback during the process of coming up with the final and updated regulations concerning development of players’

    The regulations will be applied with immediate effect.

    Regional League: Kiyinda Boys are Buganda Region Champions

    Kiyinda Boys FC have emerged Champions of after defeating Young Simba FC 1-0 at Lugazi FC Stadium.

    Godfrey Kakooza was the hero after scoring the only goal for Simon Ddungu’s side to emerge champions.

    Kiyinda Boys will face Kampala Regional League side champions Black Star Masanafu FC in the playoff final after they emerged champions in the league.

    Kiyinda Boys walk home with a trophy, medals and Two Million Uganda Shillings in prize money.

    Runners up Young Simba FC received medals and Five Hundred Thousand Uganda Shillings.

    Simba FC’s Samuel Ssemugugu was the top scorer with 20 goals while Kiyinda Boys FC’s goalkeeper Julius Ssenyonga was named the best goalkeeper.

    Black Star Masanafu FC will host Kiyinda Boys FC on Sunday 18th June at MTN Omondi Stadium Lugogo.

    The return leg will be played on Wednesday 21st June at Mityana Ssaza grounds.

    The aggregate winner between Kiyinda Boys FC and Black Star Masanafu FC will play in the 2023/24 FUFA Big League Season.
