FIFA U17 World Cup Qatar 2025: Uganda Cubs off to Dubai for further preparations

The Uganda U17 Men’s National Team, the Cubs departed for Dubai, United Arab on Tuesday afternoon to continue with their residential training camp in preparation for the FIFA U17 World Cup Qatar 2025, scheduled to take place from 3rd -27th November.

The Cubs’ trip to Dubai signifies the final step in their quest to represent Uganda with pride and determination at the FIFA U17 World Cup Qatar 2025 a milestone moment for the nation’s youth football.

The contingent of 38 people has 26 players and 12 officials. FUFA Executive Committee Member Rasoul Ariga is the Leader of Delegation.

The 10-day international camp marks the final stage of the Cubs’ preparations before they head to Qatar for their historic maiden appearance at the global tournament.

The final squad of 21 players for the World Cup will be named at the end of the camp.

While in Dubai, the team will hold intensive training sessions and play a series of international friendly matches against top youth sides, with fixtures to be confirmed in the coming days.

This phase will enable the technical team to assess tactical readiness, mental sharpness and overall match fitness as Uganda aims to make a positive impression on the world stage.

Before departing for Dubai, the Cubs wrapped up their domestic training with a commanding 5–0 victory over Amus College School in a practice match played on Monday 20th October at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba.

Bogere James was the standout performer, scoring a brilliant hat-trick, while Walusimbi Abubakali and Kamurungi Nuwagaba added a goal each to seal an emphatic win. The result capped off a successful home camp that showcased steady improvement across all aspects of play.

Speaking after the match, Head Coach Brian Ssenyondo expressed satisfaction with the team’s progress and readiness ahead of the final leg of preparations.

‘This was our last friendly game here in Uganda before we switch camp to Dubai,’ said Ssenyondo.

‘I am impressed with how the players are adapting and showing maturity, especially in implementing our attacking principles in the final third. The improvement game by game gives us confidence heading into the World Cup.’

Ssenyondo, who has announced his final assignment at the youth level as he looks to explore opportunities with senior teams, added that the international camp will give players valuable exposure and a chance to test themselves against different playing styles, boosting their confidence ahead of global competition.

The Cubs have been in camp at FUFA Hotel Kisaasi since 7th October 2025.

Coach Brian Ssenyondo Speaks Ahead of U17 World Cup Preparations

The Uganda U17 National Team has begun preparations for the FIFA U17 World Cup Qatar 2025 with great optimism and determination. Head Coach Brian Ssenyondo expressed his excitement as the players regrouped for their first training session since returning from the AFCON U17 Finals in Morocco.

‘After a long time since we came back from Morocco, we are excited to see the boys back with us preparing for the World Cup,’ said Coach Ssenyondo. ‘We are going to the world’s biggest stage. We know it will be tough, but we are not less than that; we are also tougher.’

He emphasised that the main objective is to advance from the group stage. ‘Before we stepped out for training, I told the boys that our first target is to come out of the group stage and then take it game by game. That is our main target; we do not want to put ourselves under too much pressure,’ he stated.

Coach Ssenyondo believes that progressing beyond the group will open further opportunities for the team. ‘If we get out of the group, anything is possible because the other games are knockout. It is a historical moment for all of us, for the federation and for Uganda, but especially for the players and the coaches,’ he said.

He further encouraged the young players to use this opportunity to demonstrate their potential. ‘I would want the players, and I believe the federation as well, to see them explore their talent to great heights. Many have the potential to progress to the U20 and senior national teams,’ he remarked.

In a personal reflection, Ssenyondo confirmed that this tournament will be his final assignment as Head Coach of the U17 team. He explained that this decision was reached following discussions with FUFA leadership.

‘Before we even qualified, I had a personal discussion with the FUFA President in Morocco. I told him that I believed we would qualify, but after the World Cup I would wish to step down from my position because this would be the apex,’ he shared. ‘After qualification, I formally wrote to FUFA to appreciate them for the opportunity, and they agreed with my decision. They saw it as the right step for me to move on to other national categories.’

He added, ‘I am an ambitious young man. I want to hit the heights of the game as a coach. I am very excited that I am stepping out of this position having done my best for Uganda and for myself. After my last game at the World Cup, that will mark the end of my tenure as head coach. I will move with my head held high, knowing that we did our best to achieve our dreams.’

The stage is set for the Uganda U-17 national team — the Cubs — as they prepare to make their historic debut at the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025.

Following the official draw, Uganda has been placed in Group K, where they will face global football powerhouses France, Chile, and Canada.

Uganda secured their spot in Qatar after a dramatic 2-1 playoff win over The Gambia in Morocco. James Bogere’s first-half brace sealed the result after Uganda had fallen behind in the opening minute. With this victory, the Cubs became the first Ugandan team in history to qualify for a FIFA World Cup at any level.

Uganda’s participation among the 48 participating nations reflects both the country’s growing football pedigree and the impact of FUFA’s continued investment in youth development.

Making history together: FUFA President’s full address to the U17 Team at Sheraton Hotel

    Welcome and appreciation

I would also like to take this opportunity to welcome everybody here. Our representative from the Government of Uganda, the Executive committee of FUFA, the representatives from the different stakeholders and the entire Uganda U17 team. Please, you are welcome to this event.

Before I proceed, I want to thank the Federation of Uganda Football Associations, from the Executive Committee to our members, for the work well done for us to be where we are today and why we are here.

I also want to thank the Government of Uganda, headed by His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Uganda, and the Minister in charge of Education and Sports and the entire Government apparatus for the support they give us.

I want to thank the parents, because we are talking about players who are below 17 years of age, who are still under parental control, that the parents have allowed us to have the children during school time, to be able to represent their Country.

    Acknowledging supporters

I also want to thank the different schools where these children are coming from, that also they have allowed the children to be available and give them the opportunity to take the best of their talents. The different academies in Uganda, Uganda Youth Football Association Chairman Roberts Kiwanuka and your team, because we see these players, but it has been a long journey. The representatives of clubs here, Vipers SC, KCCA FC, NEC FC and all other clubs. We are very proud that we have appreciated the ‘mulamwa’ of FUFA, to take on junior teams and be able to manufacture players of the future.

    Appreciation to team and staff

Of course, the gallant players, yourselves, thank you so much for the work you have done for this country, that you listened, you worked very hard, you delivered. The coach and your team, thank you so much, for also working very hard. We appreciate, as a Country, for the work you have done. FUFA will support this team to make sure it succeeds in Qatar. We are excited that we shall be at the global stage where Uganda will get the chance to be drawn against the biggest names in world football like Argentina, Brazil and many others.

    Special thanks

The media, for the reporting, for being able to report what has been happening. Thank you so much for doing your job.

The fans, I am told there were fans as early as 5 o’clock in the morning at Entebbe International airport, waiting for the team. Thank you so much. You give us the fuel to run the game.

Let me extend special thanks to Mr. Ali Semyalo. He is not here. He is a former national team and Express FC player, but on his own cost, travelled to Morocco and stayed with the team throughout.

Congratulatory messages from the President, First Lady

I want to bring you congratulatory messages from His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Uganda, and Mama, the Minister of Education and Sports Janet Museveni. Yesterday (On Monday) we were in a meeting about AFCON and CHAN, and this is what they said. That they congratulate you very much and it was my duty to deliver this message.

    FUFA’s Strategic Planning

As a Federation, this has been a strategy. You know everything is done by strategy. There are very many people who have said, these people are lucky. Yes, we are lucky. But luck loves those who plan, because whatever we are doing and seeing today, is planned.

    Youth football development initiatives

We sit in the boardroom to come up with a strategy. For us to be able to succeed at the highest level, we need to deliberately make intentions about youth football in Uganda.

We started the FUFA U17 Juniors League, and many naysayers thought that it cannot happen, it’s not practical. But since 2015, when we launched the FUFA U17 Juniors League, there has been a lot of success already. We have also entered all our teams for available international competitions by CECAFA, CAF and FIFA.

Importance of early identification and development

If you do not play football at the right time, there is no accident that later you will come up and play football. It is no longer possible. We have also been able to introduce different competitions. I mentioned the FUFA U17 Juniors League, but we have also introduced FUFA Odilo for Primary Schools. The countries we look at and admire, they have done this for very many years.

    Player development programmes

These competitions we are talking about, are competitions that we have not been engaged in. But they have been around. So, in 2015, we deliberately decided to invest in youth football. We have players who have come through and observed their art. In the FUFA Tv Cup, we had Owino and Magogo Shakur. There have also been products of the Odilo Cup that we started for the primary schools.

    Technical Master Plan (TMP)

We have also launched the technical master plan… This is very, very intentional. And I am insisting on being intentional. The technical master plan is looking at the path of the player. For you to be able to get that player to the top, that player must be identified.

Finally, let us remember that success in football requires a combination of hard work, dedication and strategic planning. As we celebrate the achievements of our young players, let us continue to nurture and support them, providing them with the opportunities and resources they need to excel. By working together and staying committed to our goals, I am confident that Ugandan football will continue to thrive and achieve great things.

FUFA President Praises Uganda U17 Team, Outlines Vision for Football Development

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) President, Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim, expressed gratitude to the Government of Uganda, led by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the Minister of Education and Sports and First Lady Janet Museveni, for their support in developing football infrastructure and promoting the sport.

Hon. Magogo made these remarks during a welcome reception for the Uganda U17 team at Sheraton Hotel, following their historic qualification to the FIFA World Cup U17 in Qatar.

The FUFA President also extended his appreciation to the entire team for creating history in Ugandan football.

‘The coach and your entire team, this is your moment to enjoy but also for Ugandans’ noted Hon. Magogo with a beaming smile during his address.

The FUFA President took a moment to applaud the players for their discipline, determination, and maturity, emphasizing that their achievement was a result of years of hard work. He thanked the parents and schools for supporting the players, especially for allowing them to be part of the team during the academic term.

“We’re talking about players under the age of 17, still under parental care, and we appreciate that their guardians allowed them to represent their country. The schools also gave these children the opportunity to express their talent—thank you.”

He further acknowledged the role of academies and clubs in nurturing young players, highlighting that their development journey began many years ago, often from the age of 10 or 11.

Hon. Magogo highlighted FUFA’s efforts to nurture young football talent through initiatives like the double licensing system that allows players under 21 to participate in multiple leagues, gaining more playing time and exposure to increase their chances of getting signed by top clubs, the FUFA U17 Juniors League-founded in 2015 and has produced talented players like Rogers Mato, Muhammed Shaban, Bobosi Byaruhanga, Travis Mutyaba, Allan Okello, Gavin Kizito and Kenneth Ssemakula, who have gone on to play for the Uganda Cranes national senior team, the FUFA Tv Cup launched in 2023, a tournament that has provided additional opportunities for young players to develop their skills in the traditional schools in Uganda and the Pan African Schools Championships-a competition supporting the youth football strategy, which was further bolstered by Odilo in 2019 for the schools.

The FUFA President cited examples of successful players who have come through FUFA’s programmes including Joseph Langol, Simon Wanyama, Shakur Magogo, Lukyamuzi Ashraf, Gavin Kizito, John Brian Owino and Thomas Ogema.

The FUFA President outlined the federation’s vision for Ugandan football, centred around developing young talent through the FUFA Technical Master Plan, which includes scouts in every district and a web-based application to track player development, improving sports infrastructure with government support, FUFA aims to enhance football facilities and promote the sport nationwide.

    Hon. Magogo emphasised the importance of strategic planning, saying;

‘FUFA has been strategic with its plans, and you cannot say we just got lucky. Luck finds those who have a strategy and plans’

The Uganda U17 team’s qualification for the FIFA World Cup U17 marks a significant milestone for Ugandan football.

FUFA’s initiatives and government support have contributed to this success and the organisation is poised to continue developing young talent and improving sports infrastructure.

Historic Breakthrough: Uganda Cubs Qualify for First-Ever FIFA World Cup

The Uganda U17 national team, the Cubs, have made history by becoming the first Ugandan football team ever to qualify for a FIFA World Cup tournament after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over The Gambia in a high-stakes playoff in Morocco.

In a thrilling match held at Stade El Abdi in El Jadida, Morocco, Uganda overcame an early setback to secure the win that booked their place at the 2025 FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar. Gambia’s Ahmed Njundu Kanyi struck in the first minute to give the Baby Scorpions an early lead, but Uganda responded brilliantly.

Forward James Bogere was the hero of the day, netting a first-half brace in the 13th and 33rd minutes to flip the game in Uganda’s favour.

His clinical finishing and relentless work ethic led a spirited display from the young Cubs, who showed impressive attacking flair and tactical discipline.

The second half saw Uganda hold firm under pressure, with Coach Brian Ssenyondo’s side displaying remarkable composure and defensive resilience to protect their lead until the final whistle.

This playoff fixture was created after CAF received an additional qualification slot to the U17 World Cup.

It pitted the two third placed teams in group A and C respectively from the 2025 U17 AFCON Uganda and Gambia against each other in a winner-takes-all clash for the first two of Africa’s remaining ticket to Qatar.

With this monumental victory, Uganda has not only secured a spot at the 2025 FIFA U17 World Cup but also etched their name in the annals of the country’s sporting history.

This marks Uganda’s first-ever qualification for a World Cup tournament at any age level.

The result is a major milestone for Ugandan football and a testament to the growing development of youth football structures in the country. The Cubs’ achievement will undoubtedly inspire future generations and elevate Uganda’s profile on the global stage.

  • Final dance to Qatar: Uganda Cubs eye historic World cup ticket in Gambia showdown

Final dance to Qatar: Uganda Cubs eye historic World cup ticket in Gambia showdown

Uganda U-17 head coach Brian Ssenyondo has rallied his young troops for what he describes as a do-or-die mission as the Cubs prepare to face The Gambia in a decisive playoff on Saturday evening.

The crucial clash, scheduled for 7:00 pm EAT at El Abdi Stadium in El Jadida, Morocco, offers Uganda a rare second chance to qualify for the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar. Despite missing out on the AFCON U-17 quarterfinals, the Cubs advanced to the playoffs after finishing third in their group. Their opponents, The Gambia, also placed third in their group. The second playoff will feature Egypt against Angola, with only two more World Cup spots left up for grabs.

“This is our last chance,” Ssenyondo stressed. “Gambia is a strong side, very competitive. But the World Cup has always been our dream—we have to fight for it.”

Victory on Saturday would see Uganda reach the U-17 World Cup for the first time in history. The nation had previously qualified for the 2020 edition, but that tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, The Gambia boasts experience, having featured at the 2005 and 2009 editions of the tournament.

Ssenyondo believes his side has what it takes, despite falling short in their most recent outing.

“We’re confident,” he affirmed. “The boys gave a good performance in the last match, even though we didn’t get the result. That effort gives us belief heading into this final game.”

The players themselves are embracing the magnitude of the moment. Midfielder Steven Oyirwoth echoed the coach’s sentiments, underlining the team’s determination.

“This is a do-or-die game,” Oyirwoth said. “No second chances. If we really want to achieve our World Cup dream, we have to give it everything. Everyone is focused and ready.”

However, the team faces a slight setback as forward James Bogere remains a fitness doubt after missing two training sessions. He will be assessed before kickoff, though Ssenyondo is expected to retain much of his trusted starting eleven.

For the Cubs, this isn’t just a football match, it’s the final push toward a dream that has long lingered in the hearts of the nation’s young footballing talents. Victory would mark a monumental step in Uganda’s youth football history.

World Cup ambitions intact: Uganda U17 team to face Gambia in Playoff showdown

The dream isn’t over just yet despite bowing out at the group stage of the ongoing U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The Uganda U17 Men’s National Team, familiarly known as the Cubs are still in the race for a historic spot at the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar.

A painful 2-1 defeat to Zambia in their final Group A fixture saw the Cubs finish third with just three points. The campaign began with a tough loss to hosts Morocco, before bouncing back in style with a convincing 3-0 win over Tanzania. But it wasn’t enough to guarantee a top-two finish and automatic World Cup qualification.

    Still, hope lives on.

Thanks to CAF’s expanded World Cup quota of 10 teams, the window remains open. While the eight quarterfinalists have already booked their flights to Qatar, there’s a final lifeline for four third-placed sides: a playoff showdown to determine the last two African representatives.

    Uganda’s final hurdle? Gambia.

The Young Scorpions stand in the Cubs’ way, with the two sides set to clash in a winner-takes-all playoff match for a coveted World Cup ticket. On the other side of the bracket, Egypt will take on Angola, both matches scheduled for Saturday, April 12, 2025, at El Abdi Stadium in El Jadida, Morocco.

Gambia enters with the experience edge, having previously featured at the U-17 World Cup in 2005 and 2009. In contrast, Uganda is still chasing its first-ever appearance. The Cubs had qualified for the 2021 edition, only for the tournament to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

But now, fate has offered a second chance.

Saturday’s playoff isn’t just a match, it’s a shot at rewriting history. The Cubs know what’s at stake, and with belief, hunger and focus, they could yet make their long-awaited World Cup debut a reality.

  • AFCON U-17: From stage fright to statement win – Ssenyondo rallies Cubs after Tanzania triumph

AFCON U-17: From stage fright to statement win – Ssenyondo rallies Cubs after Tanzania triumph

Uganda Cubs head coach Brian Ssenyondo believes his side has bounced back in the best possible way, describing their 3-0 victory over Tanzania as a strong response to their earlier disappointment at the 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The emphatic win in Mohammedia on Thursday reignited Uganda’s hopes of progressing from Group A and qualifying for the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup, just days after a bruising 5-0 defeat to hosts Morocco.

“Our games vs Tanzania are never easy just like this one, but good thing we won,” Ssenyondo said after the match. “It’s a good response from losing 5-0 to winning 3-0. I must say it was stage fright and we learnt from our mistakes.”

The Cubs hit the ground running, nearly scoring in the opening seconds through Richard Okello, whose strike thundered off the crossbar. Tanzania pushed back with a long-range effort from Akram Shaaban, forcing a save from Adrian Mukwanga.

Uganda’s high-pressing approach pinned the Serengeti Boys in their own half, and despite Isima Magala coming close before the break, it wasn’t until the second half that the breakthrough came.

The turning point arrived in the 56th minute when Tanzanian defender Hussein Mbegu was controversially sent off following a VAR review. Uganda immediately took control—Simon Wanyama opening the scoring five minutes later.

Richard Okello doubled the lead in the 85th minute, pouncing on a rebound, before James Bogere capped off a sparkling performance by converting a penalty in stoppage time. Bogere was later named Man of the Match for his all-round display.

“Bogere is a good player who doesn’t only think about himself but for the whole team,” Ssenyondo said. “I am happy he got off the mark.”

The result moved Uganda to third place in Group A with three points, while Tanzania remain rooted at the bottom with no points and face early elimination.

Despite the win, Ssenyondo kept his squad grounded with a sharp focus on the final group game against Zambia.

“We don’t want to get excited as we now shift focus to the Zambia match,” he added. “We want to win and get qualification to the World Cup. Zambia is a good team but I am hopeful we shall win.”

With the top two teams advancing directly to the quarterfinals and the third-placed teams contesting playoffs for the final World Cup spots, the Cubs now stand one win away from a historic step toward global football’s biggest youth stage.

Ruthless Cubs roar past 10-Man Tanzania to reignite AFCON U-17 hopes

Uganda Cubs reignited their 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Morocco with a convincing 3-0 win over Tanzania on Thursday in Mohammedia, bouncing back in style after a bruising defeat in their opening game.

The result not only delivered Uganda’s first points in Group A but also severely dented the Serengeti Boys’ hopes of progression. The encounter was tilted in Uganda’s favor early on, with Richard Okello nearly opening the scoring within seconds, rattling the crossbar with a fierce strike. Tanzania responded with a long-range effort from Akram Shaaban that forced a smart save from Adrian Mukwanga.

The Cubs, however, quickly established dominance, pinning Tanzania back with a high-intensity press. Isima Magala came close to breaking the deadlock before the break, but Tanzanian goalkeeper Abrahman Nassoro stood tall to deny him.

The game’s defining moment came in the 56th minute. Tanzanian center-back Hussein Mbegu was sent off after a contentious VAR decision, leaving Tanzania with a mountain to climb. Uganda needed no second invitation.

Five minutes later, Simon Wanyama calmly slotted home the opener, punishing the short-handed Tanzanian defense. As the game wore on, the Ugandan pressure mounted.

Richard Okello was rewarded for his earlier efforts, reacting quickest to a rebound and doubling the lead in the 85th minute.

In stoppage time, it was the electric James Bogere, later named Man of the Match who sealed the emphatic victory from the penalty spot, sending the keeper the wrong way.

The win lifts Uganda to third place in Group A with three points, while Tanzania, yet to register a point, sit bottom and face early elimination.

As the group stage heats up, the top two teams will progress directly to the quarterfinals and automatically qualify for the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup. Meanwhile, the third placed teams will contest playoffs for the final two World Cup spots.

Uganda Cubs Seek Redemption Against Tanzania in Crucial U17 AFCON Clash

Uganda and Tanzania will be eager to bounce back when they face off in a decisive Group A encounter at the TotalEnergies CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 today at 8 PM EAT at El Bachir Stadium, Mohammedia. Both teams come into this match after suffering heavy defeats in their opening fixtures. Uganda fell 5-0 to hosts Morocco, while Tanzania lost 4-1 to Zambia. With both sides chasing their first points of the tournament, this match carries significant weight.

Ssenyondo: “We Have No Other Chance Apart from Now”

Uganda Cubs head coach Brian Ssenyondo recognizes the importance of the clash, labeling it a “derby” due to the regional rivalry between the two teams. “They are our rivals, and we both lost our first games. This makes the match very difficult, but we have prepared well over the past days to ensure we present ourselves strongly against Tanzania. We have no other chance apart from tomorrow, and I believe we shall play very well to get maximum points,” said Ssenyondo.

Despite some injury concerns in the squad, he remains hopeful that his team can deliver. “We have a few injury concerns from our previous game, like Bogere, Magala, Torach, and Lukyamuzi, and we are waiting for the doctors’ final report,” he added.

Following the heavy loss to Morocco, Ssenyondo acknowledges the disappointment among fans but is confident the team will respond. “I know fans back home are disappointed with the previous result, and we are also disappointed, but football gives you another chance. We believe we shall make things right against Tanzania because our target is to qualify for the World Cup.”

    Players Ready to Step Up

Uganda forward James Bogere and midfielder Ethan Oyedele share their coach’s optimism, vowing to fight for a positive result. Bogere, who has previously faced Tanzania, stressed the importance of the right mentality. “We know Tanzania very well, having played against them twice recently. They are a good side, but we have to come with the right mentality and character. The boys are very motivated, and they know what this match means to us. As a player, I know what I am capable of doing, and I believe against Tanzania, I can do it.”

Oyedele echoed similar sentiments, determined to use this match as an opportunity for redemption. “The result against Morocco isn’t something we expected, and it left us disappointed, but we have a chance to redeem ourselves against Tanzania. We know it won’t be easy, but we have to fight to achieve our dream of qualifying for the World Cup.”

This will be the second meeting between Uganda and Tanzania at the U-17 AFCON finals. Their first encounter came in 2019, when Uganda defeated Tanzania 3-0 in Dar es Salaam, although both teams failed to progress past the group stage. Most recently, the two sides met in the qualifiers for Morocco 2025, drawing 1-1 in the group stage before Uganda won 2-1 in the final. Notably, Tanzania took the lead in both matches but failed to hold on.

2025 AFCON U17: Uganda Cubs fall to Morocco in opener

Uganda Cubs endured a tough start to their 2025 Total Energies CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign, falling 5-0 to hosts Morocco at El Bachir Stadium in Mohammedia on Sunday night.

Despite the defeat, the young Ugandan side showed resilience and flashes of promise as they gained vital experience on the big stage.

Facing a highly clinical Moroccan side, Uganda found themselves trailing early when Ilies Belmokhtar, the eventual player of the match, opened the scoring in the 3rd minute. Morocco continued their aggressive start, with Aït Cheikh doubling the lead five minutes later with a bullet header from Abdellah Ouazane’s pinpoint cross.

The Cubs faced further adversity when a VAR-reviewed penalty in the 23rd minute saw Real Betis forward Ziyad Baha convert from the spot, increasing Morocco’s lead to three. The home side maintained their attacking momentum, with Belmokhtar adding his second goal of the night before the half-hour mark, making it 4-0 at halftime.

Despite the scoreline, Uganda returned with a more composed approach in the second half, trying to contain Morocco’s relentless attack. They showed improved defensive organization and moments of offensive intent. However, substitute El Aoud set up Baha for his second and Morocco’s final goal in the 71st minute, sealing the hosts’ emphatic victory.

Among those in attendance was Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) president Hon. Moses Magogo Hassim, who watched as Uganda Cubs fought hard against a well-drilled Moroccan side. The CECAFA champions will now shift focus to their crucial next match against regional rivals Tanzania on April 3rd, where victory will be key in keeping their FIFA U-17 World Cup qualification hopes alive.
