‘We have assembled a team that will compete. Derbies are always determined by the slightest details. We want to pay keen attention to such details and win the game’ Micho noted.
Team captain Okwi maintained that football is a game of collective responsibility and thus preached teamwork.
‘As we face Kenya, I am captain and only wear the arm. But, the rest of my teammates are all captains as we fight for our country. We seek a good start as we face Kenya on Thursday’ Okwi observed.

Uganda Cranes had pitched camp in Ethiopia for acclimatization and held an international build up against the hosts staged at the Bahir Dar International Stadium.
Yunus Sentamu scored Uganda Cranes’ consolation during the match that ended 2-1; from which Micho picked key learning points.
‘A football game is far better than 30 training sessions. We have seen where we need to improve coming to the Kenya and Mali games’ Micho observed.

Uganda Cranes arrived in Kenya on Tuesday morning from Ethiopia where the team had pitched camp for acclimatization and an international build up match at the Bahir Dar Stadium.
The team arrived at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, received by the advance party head Paul Mukatabala before they checked in at the Tamarind Tree Hotel.
Hours later, the players were subjected to activation training at the team hotel (in the playground and gym) for stretching the bodies before they trained for about two hours at the Utalii College Sports Ground.

The Uganda Cranes delegation is in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi of the crucial FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 group E qualifier against the hosts.
The delegation reached Jomo Kenyatta International Airport from Addis Ababa aboard Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 308.
At the Airport, they were received by the national teams’ officer who was the advance party in Nairobi for the team; Paul Mukatabala.

The team checked in at Tamarind Tree Hotel, along Langata Road in Nairobi and will be expected to train later in the afternoon.
Twenty players who left the Bahir Dar base were joined by Isaac Muleme (Viktoria Žižkov, Czech Republic), Mustapha Kizza (CF Montréal, Canada), and Derrick Nsibambi (Smouha, Egypt), all who joined the team in Nairobi.
Addressing the media moments after arrival at the Airport, head coach Milutin Sredojevic anticipated an explosive match that will be determined by the slightest details.

‘This will be one more episode of unending derby between Uganda and Kenya. I am happy to be coming here in Nairobi. It is a measurement of test and character. It will be a very tough match. There is too much at stake. It is very hard to play against players that you know. We shall be playing a team that has very big advantage. Our league is in recess because of the off season. It will be a match where small details will decide. We shall be doing everything that those details go our way.’ Micho noted.
Team captain Emmanuel Arnold Okwi expressed readiness to face Kenya in the traditional derby encounter.
‘We are set to face Kenya in this do or die game. We need maximum points to have a good start in the qualifiers’ Okwi told the media.
The leader of delegation Issa Magoola Kakaire, also an Executive Committee member of FUFA and a delegation expressed delight upon the leadership of the FUFA president Hon Eng. Moses Magogo, the Government, technical members, players, sponsors and other key partners in the preparatory process of the national team.

Uganda Cranes delegation that traveled to Bahir Dar city has traveled to the capital city Addis Ababa, about 490 Kilometres.
Before departure, head coach Milutin Sredojevic and the rest of the members of the technical team convened with the players for a general meeting as well as a soul soothing session.
Five players who have been with the team in Bahir Dar were released. Midfielder Tadeo Lwanga is ruled out with injury.
The other four are; Martin Kizza, Shafik Kuchi Kagimu, Abdu Lumala and Kenneth Ssemakula.
The team departs for Addis Ababa aboard Ethiopian Airlines at 6:30 PM (ET 147).
The delegation will then link up from Addis Ababa to Nairobi (ET 308) at 11:15 PM.
Advance party head Paul Mukatabala is already in Nairobi to receive the team at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

The Head coach is optimistic that the team will perform well after the international build up against Ethiopia.

International Build Up: Ethiopia 2-1 Uganda Cranes
Uganda Cranes picked up important lessons from the 2-1 defeat at the hands of Ethiopia during the international build up match played at the Bahir Dar Stadium on Sunday.
A goal in each half from Nasir Abubeker and Abel Yelew inspired the Walia Stars to victory.
Second half substitute Yunus Sentamu pulled back a consolation for the visitors.
Sentamu was one of the six players introduced in the second half.

At the kick off of the final stanza, Sentamu replaced Abdu Lumala, goalkeeper Charles Lukwago took over Isima Watenga’s slot and Enock Walusimbi was rested for Ibrahim Orit.
Midfielder Khalid Aucho later paved way for youngster Bobosi Byaruhanga in the 63rd minute.
Six minutes later, captain Emmanuel Arnold Okwi was withdrawn and Richard Basangwa took over before the final change was made as Moses Waiswa got displaced by Shafik Kuchi Kagimu.
Six players were unused substitutes; goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa, Gavin Kizito Mugweri, Abdul Aziizi Kayondo, Kenneth Ssemakula, Steven Desse Mukwala and Innocent Wafula.
Two others; Tadeo Lwanga and Martin Kizza were not considered for the match due to injury and mere rest respectively.

Head coach Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic acknowledged the value of this match that painted the real picture of the expectations from the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Kenya and Mali.
‘The match was very important as it pointed out to the test of the players. We got the answers because in football you either win or learn the lesson. We saw shortcomings of the players and what they are capable of and how best to improve before the FIFA World Cup qualifiers’ Micho stated.
The head coach’s message was re-echoed aloud by the captain Emmanuel Arnold Okwi.
‘The game against Ethiopia exposed us and it has given us the due challenge on how to improve amicably before the FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Kenya and Mali are not exactly like Ethiopia but we shall further check ourselves’ Okwi disclosed moments after the match.
Milton Karisa, one of the few players who lasted for the entire duration of the match was humbled for the challenge faced in thy midst.
‘Fine, we took a long time without playing competitively because of the national lockdown back home, but, we need to stand up and rise highest’ Karisa stated.

All is set for the international build up between hosts Ethiopia and Uganda Cranes at the Bahir Dar International Stadium on Sunday, 29th August 2021 at 2 PM.
This match comes at an opportune time when the two countries are preparing for their respective FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar qualifiers.
Uganda Cranes delegation arrived in Ethiopia on Thursday morning and held training at the Bahir Dar International stadium to acclimatize to the cold weather conditions like the present situation in Nairobi.

Head coach Milutin Sredojevic believes that build up will help the team prepare for the Kenya and Mali clashes in Nairobi and St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende respectively.
‘The players are physically and mentally prepared for the international build up. This will be a perfect build up for us as we go to the Kenya and Mali clashes’ Micho stated.
There are 25 players in camp at the Olive Hotel and Spa base will be considered as deemed by the technical team.
The team will depart for Nairobi, Kenya on Monday evening and shall be expected to start training on Tuesday.
The game against Kenya shall be played on Thursday, 2nd September 2021 at the Nyayo National Stadium whilst the Mali clash comes four days later at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
Uganda Cranes team trained for the first time in Ethiopia at the Bahir Dar International Stadium on Friday evening under chilly weather conditions.
Head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic and his assistants took the players through the paces for one and a half hours of the session that had lots of ball work.
The five added players; Waisswa Moses, Taddeo Lwanga , Aucho Khalid, goalkeeper Isima Watenga and left back Joseph Ochaya all trained with the rest of the 20 players who traveled from Uganda.

Before the afternoon training, the team was engaged in theory-demonstration sessions conducted at the team hotel in the morning.
The coach was impressed by the response of all players in the training session.
‘The response for each of the players on the players is good. You have showed patriotism, character and the fighting spirit.’ Micho spoke as he commended the players.

Midfielders Waisswa Moses, Taddeo Lwanga , Aucho Khalid, goalkeeper Isima Watenga and left back Joseph Ochaya, will join the players already at Olive Hotel and Spa in Bahir Dar city.
‘Those are the players who will join us in Ethiopia. We want to make use of the camp in Bahir Dar as we continue with the preparations’ Micho confirmed.
The foreign based players are expected to start arriving on Thursday and will be considered for the international friendly match against Ethiopia on Sunday.
The team rested on Thursday after arriving early in the day from Uganda but a light recovery session has been lined up to restore the bodies from the fatigue.

Early Thursday, 26th August 2021, Uganda Cranes embarked on the journey from the team camp at Cranes Paradise Hotel in Kisaasi to Entebbe International Airport with the final destination to Bahar Dar city.

Joel Mutakubwa (Express): Goalkeeper currently at Express Football Club. He represented Uganda at the 2021 CHAN championships in Cameroon. He recently won the Cecafa Kagame Cup with Express in Dar es salaam, Tanzania. He has previously played at Busoga United and Kyetume Football Clubs.

He has earned 39 caps and one of the vastly experienced players on the team having also played at two Total AFCON tournaments in 2017 (Gabon) and lately Egypt in 2019. He has played SC Victoria University, Red Cross, Simba, Wydad Casablanca and lately Express where he won the 2021 Cecafa Kagame Cup as well as the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

Enock Walusimbi: Defender at the reigning StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions, Express F.C. He was born on 12th November 1998. Besides the league crown, he also won the 2021 Cecafa Kagame Cup.

Arthur Kiggundu: The flying left back earned his first ever summon to the Uganda Cranes. He was instrumental as Express won the 2021 StarTimes Uganda Premier League and Cecafa Kagame Cup in the same season. Kiggundu was born on 14th April 1995.

Uganda Cranes has intensified their preparations for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 qualifiers ahead of the Kenya (away) and Mali (home) games.
With a full house at the Cranes Paradise Hotel in Kisaasi, the technical team is spoilt for choice as the players are aggressively fighting for the available slots.
On Saturday, the team conducted a recovery session in the morning before a very detailed session at the African Bible University playground in Lubowa, off Entebbe road.

The afternoon session involved the thorough tactical thesis, varying match situations and physical drills both for the outfield as well as the goalkeepers.
Head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic, the performance and fitness director Franck Plaine, goalkeeping coach Fred Kajoba Kisitu and the other members of the technical team all had a busy evening at office.
Micho tested the players’ physic and tactical awareness throughout the interesting session before the team will be trimmed.

‘We have had a great week of training with sessions in the gym and on the field. The players have showed intent to deliver and this is good. We shall continue to monitor the performance for everyone on the team’ Micho disclosed.

There is full life and anxiety in the Uganda Cranes camp at the Cranes Paradise Hotel in Kisaasi.
As the head coach Milutin Sredojevic continues to monitor the players, the training regime has intensified with on field training drills at Lugogo as well as gym sessions in the afternoon.
Micho and the rest of the technical staff are working to fine tune the players in preparation for the upcoming international matches (build ups and the big game against Kenya in Nairobi).
He therefore seeks urgent improvements for each of the 30 players in came individually, departmentally and generally as a team with the right desired partnerships (combinations).

‘If you want to write, you have to know the Alphabet and you want to play, there is a combination needed. There is a certain aspect of movements that have been a problem with us. We need to provide variety in offense to be much more dangerous before the goal.We need to have a good balance in attack and defence as the players improve individually, in departments and as a team’ Micho states.
Defender Murushid Juuko was the last of the locally based players to arrive in camp and boosted the team morale upon arrival.
‘I call upon all the fans and stakeholders to support us in the dream to play at the FIFA World Cup’ Juuko said in his first interview upon arrival.

Experienced defender Murushid Juuko has become the latest player to join the Uganda Cranes camp at Cranes Paradise Hotel in Kisaasi, Kampala.
The defender for the reigning Uganda Premier League champions and CECAFA Kagame Clubs cup recent winners Express, Juuko was the last player on the local legion of players summoned by head coach Micho to prepare for the upcoming FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 qualifiers.

Wednesday, 18th August 2021 witnessed five of the six summoned Express Football Club players join the Uganda Cranes camp at the Cranes Paradise Hotel in Kisaasi.
Fresh from winning the 2021 CECAFA Kagame Cup in Dar es salaam, Express FC captain Enock Walusimbi, left back Arthur Kiggundu, forward Martin Kizza, midfielder Muzamiru Mutyaba and goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa joined the rest of the teammates in the camp and were engaged in the Wednesday morning training session that involved gym work-outs.
Performance and Fitness director Franck Plaine handled the outfield goalkeepers and Fred Kajoba Kisitu was with the four goalkeepers under close supervision of Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic.

For about one and a half hours, the players were taken through the work-outs targeted for stamina, resilience, endurance, power and general fitness.
New call up Kiggundu was humbled for the summon and believes he will come good in the national team set up.
‘It is very humbling that I have been summoned to the Uganda Cranes. I want to thank coach Micho and the technical team for this. Also, credit goes to my club Express FC that gave me the platform to showcase my talent. I want to give 100 percent while on the team’ Kiggundu told www.fufa.co.ug.

Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has officially unveiled Milutin Sredojević for a three year tenure (2021-2014).
The unveiling ceremony was held at FUFA headquarters in Mengo, Kampala on 3rd August 2021.

Since 2005, we have maintained the interest of stakeholders including the Government and sponsors. We have been with Airtel Uganda since 2013. I was part of the football revolution since my earlier times. My journey of African football studies started here in Uganda. I have learnt a lot. I am a much improved version of a coach. 256 GB, now I am in Tellabyts. I thank the previous coaches Sebastien Desabre, Mathias Lule, Johnathan McKinstry, Charles Livingstone Mbabazi and Abdallah Mubiru. I will give particular attention to details; build attack and consolidate on the solid defence. I want to pay back with fanatic hard work. I am here serve, deliver and give back to the people. Hlongwane found the equalizer for Bafana Bafana, a few minutes into the second half.
Makgopa then gave the hosts the lead and moments later doubled the advantage to build a two goal lead.
Lumala reduced the deficit to make it 3-2 for the visitors and grant the closing minutes of the game a tense ending.
The game is preparing the two countries for the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Uganda Cranes delegation to South Africa has quickly acclimatized to the chilly weather conditions prior to the international build up match on Thursday, 10th June 2021.
The team safely traveled aboard Uganda Airlines Bombardier to South Africa on Tuesday morning before they checked in at Protea Hotel Roodepoort in Johannesburg.

The Uganda Cranes head coach Abdallah Mubiru has named the final team that will travel to South Africa for the up-coming international build up on 10th June 2021 at the Orlando Stadium, Soweto.
The final team was confirmed after the last training at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Monday, 7th June 2021.

There are 23 players on the team with the South African based legion of goalkeeper Ismael Watenga and Moses Waiswa Ndhondhi joining the team in Soweto.
The team flies out tonight aboard Uganda Airlines at 8:40 PM. The leader of delegation is Kalibbala Chrizestom.
South Africa hosts Uganda on 10th June 2021 at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto in an international build-up.
