The quarter finals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup comes to an end on Sunday, 16th April 2023 at Kavumba Recreational Ground as Soltilo Bright Stars FC host KCCA FC in a match scheduled to be televised on FUFA Tv at 3:00 PM.
The homes side eliminated Nakapelimen FC, Mbale Heroes FC and Kiyinda Boys FC during the round of sixty-four, thirty-two and sixteen while the visitors saw off Kampala Junior Team (KJT), Kataka FC and Mbarara City FC in the round of sixty-four, thirty-two and sixteen.
KCCA FC approaches today’s match without the services of Brian Majwega, Arafat Usama, Filbert Obenchan, and John Revita.
The returnees to the team include Geoffrey Wasswa and Mustafa Kizza.
Derrick Kiggundu is the only player not available for selection for the home side.

StarTimes Uganda Premier League side, Express FC, have been eliminated from the 49th Edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup after losing 2-0 to Adjumani TC FC at Paridi Stadium on Saturday 15th April 2023.
The FUFA Big League side took the lead in the sixth minute after Micheal Ajiga scored from a free kick.
During the second half, a volley from Sadik sealed the fate of the visitors.

The home side eliminated Simba FC, Elite FC and Bunyaruguru United FC during the round of sixty-four, thirty-two and sixteen while the visitors saw off Kajjansi United FC, Lugazi FC and Paidha Black Angels SC.
Express FC come to this match without the services of Shafiq Ssebyala, Ivan Mayanja, Enock Ssebagala, Allan Kayiwa, Arthur Kiggundu, and Derrick Ngoobi.

In a bid to secure their third domestic cup, Vipers SC saw off Calvary FC in a match that was played on Friday 14th April 2023 at St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende.
Yunus Sentamu scored a brace while Abubakar Lawal added a goal during the opening twenty minutes to give the home side a comfortable lead at halftime despite a late goal by Junior Andama for the visiting side.
During the second half, Abubakar Lawal converted a penalty in the fifty-fourth minute to seal the victory for the host team.

Two successive goals during the second half saw Police FC eliminate the current cup holders BUL FC in a match that was played on Wednesday at Kavumba Recreational Ground.
Anthony Manyanja scored for BUL FC in the second minute but further efforts from the visitors were stopped by Police FC goalkeeper Davis Mutebi.
During the second half, Pascal Ngobi scored into his own net after a header by Jackson Semugai hit the post in the fifty-seventh minute.
The home side’s score was doubled seven minutes later by Ronald Sempala who headed home Denis Kalanzi’s drop ball.

Police FC host BUL FC on April 12th, 2023, at Kavumba Recreational Grounds as the Quarter Finals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup gets underway.
The FUFA Big League side, Police FC, comes to this round after eliminating Apuutun FC, Pajule Lions FC and Ndejje University FC in the round of 64, 32 and 16 respectively.
BUL FC on the other side eliminated Sparks FC, SC Villa and Onduparaka FC during the rounds of 64, 32 and 16 respectively.
While speaking to the media on Tuesday, coach Simeon Masaba said the team is improving each day through hard work and is confident goals will be easy to find on Wednesday. The club website reported.
“The boys are very ready, we have tried to correct the mistakes,” he said.
“And in this type of competition, it’s not the kind of form you have, you only need to play the ninety minutes, win and go through to the next stage.”
“We are trying every day and hopefully tomorrow we shall get the goals and the results as well.”
“This is the moment we need our fans most. Let them come, cheer us, pray for us, be behind us so that we get the results.”
BUL FC Captain George Kasonko said;
“Police is a big team and is experienced. Their being in the big league doesn’t matter, what matters most is the game tomorrow”
“It gives us no any other chance, the only option is us winning.”
“The team currently has a challenge scoring goals, but scoring isn’t only for the strikers.”

The draws for the quarterfinal stage of this year’s Stanbic Uganda Cup have successfully been conducted on Wednesday at FUFA House, Mengo.
The event was graced by FUFA CEO Edgar Watson and FUFA Competition Director Aisha Nalule with former footballer Moses Matovu drawing the lots.
In the draws, Stanbic Uganda Cup holders BUL FC will face Police FC at Kavumba Recreation Ground. The former ejected Onduparaka FC at the round of 16 while the Cops got better of Ndejje University at the same stage.
Soltilo Bright Stars FC will face KCCA FC in a repeat of last season’s round of 32 tie that was won by the former.
Vipers SC will be at home to Calvary FC while Express FC will make a long trip to Paridi Stadium to take on Adjumani Town Council FC.
FUFA CEO Watson congratulated every team that has reached the quarterfinal stage and indicated every team stands a chance to win the coveted title.

“The Stanbic Uganda Cup is a prestigious competition that has legacy. It has created several stars and Champions.”
Matovu who is also a legendary musician reminisced about his playing days in the 60s and urged the current crop of players to always give full commitment.

“I’m honoured to be invited here for the Quarterfinal draws of the Stanbic Uganda Cup. I started playing football at school at the age of 15 in the 1960s and the game has stuck with me since then. It is therefore important for the current players to offer their best while still active.” He said.
The veteran artiste attached to Afrigo Band played for Nakivubo Boys (now SC Villa), Express FC, Lint Marketing Board FC and Police FC among others.
FUFA Competitions Director, Nalule confirmed that the quarterfinal fixtures will be played on a one-leg basis and extra time will apply in case of a draw at the end of normal time.

Ndejje University FC lost 2-0 to Police FC in a match that was held at Kavumba Recreational Ground this evening. Goals from Dennis Kalanzi and Herman Wasswa during the second half secured qualification for the cops.
Police FC join the two FUFA Big League teams that have qualified for the Quarter-Finals of the 49th Edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
Adjumani TC FC and Calvary FC have joined the have progressed to the quarter-finals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup after eliminating Bunyaruguru United FC and Kitara FC respectively.
The Calvary-Kitara match was decided by spot kicks after it ended 1-1 after normal playing time. The home side won 8-7. To proceed to the Round of 16, Calvary FC eliminated Budondo United FC in the Round of 64 and JLOS FC in the Round of 32.
Bunyaruguru United FC lost to Adjumani TC FC as the host team won 4-3 after penalties were taken. Adjumani TC FC eliminated Simba FC in the Round of 64 and Elite FC during the Round of 32.
The current table leaders of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, KCCA FC, saw off Mbarara City FC in a Round of 16 match that was held at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
Goals from Rogers Mato and Simon Kankonde in both halves saw the home side march on to the next stage despite an effort from the visiting side through Henry Kitegenyi. The host team won 2-1.
To reach the Round of 16, KCCA FC eliminated Kampala Junior Team in the Round of 64 and Kataka FC in the Round of 32 while Mbarara City FC eliminated SC Tawai in the Round of 64 and Admin FC in the Round of 32.
KCCA FC joins four StarTimes Uganda Premier League sides who have already qualified for the Quarter-Finals.
Onduparaka FC has been eliminated from the domestic cup after suffering a 1-0 loss at the hands of BUL FC from the Green Light Stadium, Arua. BUL FC’s Martin Aprem scored the decisive goal in the 80th minute to hand the visitors a spot in the quarter-finals.
At the Muteesa II Stadium, West Nile Regional side Paidha Black Angels SC suffered a 4-0 loss to Express FC as they faced off. Faisal Ssekyanzi opened up the score in the 9th minute and Boban Ziruntuusa scored a brace to give the red eagles the advantage at the break. In the second half, Anwar Ntege scored the only goal for the home side to seal a spot in the quarter-finals.
Day one of the round of 16 saw last editions runner-up, Vipers SC, and fellow StarTimes Uganda Premier League side Soltilo Bright Stars FC qualify for the quarter finals.
Soltilo Bright Stars FC scored four goals past Buganda Regional League side Kiyinda Boys FC at Kavumba Recreational Ground. Ibrahim Kasinde scored a brace while Emmanuel Loki and Nelson Senkatuka scored the other two goals.
At the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, Shariph Kimbowa scored the first goal five minutes after the start of the second half but Ashraf Mandela equalised for the visitors in the last fifteen minutes. The visitors, Vipers SC, went ahead to eliminate Wakiso Giants FC 3-4 after penalties were taken.
Last editions runner-up Vipers SC pay a visit to Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium today as they are hosted by Wakiso Giants FC.
The home side eliminated Fort Portal Boda Boda FC in the round of 64 in a matah that ended 1-3 and went ahead to eliminate Blacks Power FC after spot kicks during the round of 32. The visitors on the other hand eliminated Bujumbura United FC and Jinja North United FC in the round of 64 and round of 32 respectively; winning both matches after spot kicks.
Also happening today, Soltilo Bright Starts FC hosts Kiyinda Boys FC at Kavumba Recreational Ground.

It us upon this background that a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) campaign is attached to every season of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

For the fifth time, the campaign returns for the 2022/23 season that is at the round of 16.
FUFA Events Manager Leilah Nankya lauched this year’s campaign and it will run under the theme ‘Make them smile again.’

“For the fifth year, we are running this campaign to show that football can make a positive impact on society. For every final of the Stanbic Uganda Cup, we look at donating clothes and other items to the less privileged people in the region where the final is played.” She stated.
“I call upon the general public, sponsors and the corporate world to be part of this cause. We shall have collection centres where clothing items will be received.” Added Nankya.
The FUFA Corporate Social Responsibility drive attached to Stanbic Uganda Cup came into effect in 2016 and has benefited to the following people as below.

The draws for the round of 16 of the 2022/23 Stanbic Uganda Cup have been successfully conducted on Tuesday with teams identifying their next opponents.
The draw function was held at FUFA Complex in the presence of the FUFA 3rd Vice President Hon. Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi.

Former Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Sadiq Wassa also graced the occasion and shared his story in the prestigious knockout competition.

“I’m privileged to have won the Uganda Cup both as a player and a coach. This competition is worth winning because knockout games are always thrilling. I therefore thank FUFA for inviting me to be part of today’s function.” He said.
Wassa won the Uganda Cup as a player at KCC (now KCCA FC) in 1990.

“I remember SC Villa had won the League and were aiming to clinch a double. They had beaten us in midweek to lift the League title and we had to face them in the Cup final over the weekend. Luckily, we defeated them and denied them a double.” Wassa reminisced.
The former shot stopper also went ahead to lift the Cup twice as a goalkeeping coach at URA FC in 2011/12 and 2013/14 seasons.

“We received a decision from the FUFA Judicial bodies about the game between BUL FC and SC Villa and a date on when the game will be played shall be communicated soon.”
Nalule also confirmed that Kisugu United was eliminated after Paidha Black Angles won the petition for the former’s use of ineligible players.
In the draws conducted, Wakiso Giants will face rivals Vipers in the Wakiso derby, KCCA FC will be at home to Mbarara City FC while Soltilo Bright Stars will take on Kiyinda Boys.
In the other fixtures Police FC take on Ndejje University, Express FC will host Paidha Black Angels, Adjumani TC FC face Bunyaruguru while Calvary FC will be at home to Kitara FC.
The winner between BUL FC and SC Villa will visit Onduparaka FC.
The round of 16 fixtures will be played between 11th -17th March 2023. Every team at this stage is assured of a cash prize of UGX 3M.
At the same function, the FUFA Corporate Social Responsibility campaign attached to the Stanbic Uganda Cup was also lauched.
According to FUFA Events Manager, Leilah Nankya, this year’s theme is “Make them smile again.”

“This is the fifth year that FUFA has attached a CSR campaign to the Uganda Cup. Football is beyond just a game and that is why we look at making a positive impact in less privileged communities where the final is hosted,” she said before adding, “we shall collect clothing items and donate them in Lira City where the final will be played. Therefore, I call upon the general public, sponsors, fans and the corporate world to embrace this cause.”
BUl FC are the reigning Winners of the Stanbic Uganda Cup, having clinched this title in Masindi last year.
