Stanbic Uganda Cup Quarterfinal SC Villa 1-2 BUL FC (After Extra time)
BUL FC are through to the semifinals after dumping out SC Villa from the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
In the Quarterfinal game played on Monday at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru, BUL FC had to come from a goal down to win 2-1, including the winner coming deep into the second half of extra time.
Saddam Masereka got SC Villa ahead but Karim Ndugwa got the equalizer before a late goal from Ibrahim Nsimbe after normal time decided the contest.
Masereka fired SC Villa into the lead, scoring with a ferocious strike at the near post in the 20th minute.
Despite creating several attempts especially in the first half, the Jogoos failed to double their advantage.
BUL FC kept growing in confidence and eventually found the equalizer through Karim Ndugwa whose diving header beat goalkeeper Martin Ssekooto.
The home side had the opportunity to lead again before the break when they won a penalty in the 44th minute but captain of the day Saddam Juma fired it wide.
BUL were reduced to ten men midway through the second half when midfielder George Kasonko was sent off for a second bookable offence on Masereka.
Despite having numerical advantage, SC Villa failed to break past resilient BUL who forced the game to extra time and eventually getting the winning goal with four minutes to the end of extra time.
BUL join holders Vipers SC and Booma FC who booked their slots over the weekend overcoming Wakiso Giants and Maroons FC respectively.
The final quarterfinal fixture will come on Wednesday at Kakyeka Stadium with Mbarara City hosting Mbale Heroes FC.

Stanbic Uganda Cup Quarterfinal Results Booma FC 2-1 Maroons FC Wakiso Giants FC 1-3 Vipers SC
Stanbic Uganda Cup current holders Vipers SC booked a place in the last four after eliminating rivals Wakiso Giants FC in the Wakiso derby on Sunday.
The Venoms ensured their quest for an elusive domestic double remained on course by dispatching the Purple Sharks 3-1 at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium.
2021 Airtel FUFA Male Player of the year Bobosi Byaruhanga opened the scoring midway through the first half before a second half double from Yunus Ssentamu sealed victory for visiting Vipers.
The hosts got their consolation late into the game through forward Sam Ssenyonjo who is on loan from KCCA FC.
Byaruhanga broke the deadlock in the 21st minute finishing off a well worked run that had Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye feeding the former for the opening goal.
Vipers SC doubled their advantage only five minutes into the second half with Ssentamu finding himself in the right place to finish off a Milton Karisa pass.
The ‘Hitman’ as popularly christened once again came punishing, getting his second of the day and Vipers’ third in the 80th minute.
The only positive for the home side came five minutes to the end of time with Ssenyonjo getting the consolation as the Purple Sharks got dumped out.
With just two points away from clinching the League title in the final five games, the Venoms will now have an eye and probably more emphasis put at winning the Stanbic Uganda Cup as well to add to the two they already have (2016 and 2021).
They join Booma FC in the semifinals. The Masindi based outfit stunned Maroons FC on Saturday to extend their fairytale run in this year’s edition.

Booma FC was drawn to face Maroons FC by FUFA Executive Committee member Rogers Mulindwa.
The aforementioned teams have had a scintillating run in the Stanbic Uganda Cup and remain only the two regional league clubs in this year’s competition.
Mbale Heroes FC from Eastern Regional League stunned Police FC at the previous round while Booma FC on the other hand ejected TIPSA FC.

He also confirmed that all the Quarterfinal games will be broadcast live on TV and called upon teams to exhibit good football.

“The quarterfinal fixtures will be played between 23rd and 27th April. In case of a draw after normal time, extra time of 30 minutes will be played. If the score is even after extra time, then the winners shall be determined through penalty kicks.” He confirmed.
Mukatabala who won the Uganda Cup both as a player and coach reminisced the old times and narrated his journey through the coveted tournament.
FUFA National Teams Officer, Paul Mukatabala
“It was unfortunate that the time I was at SC Villa between 1990-1998, we failed to win the Uganda Cup. However, I was able to win it in the evening of my career at Victors FC in the 2008/2009 sesson as a player and 2009/2010 season as assistant coach to George Nsimbe at the same club.”
