Amuria High School 0-1 Wakiso Hills

She Maroons Ajax Queens

She Maroons secured the final slot in the Semi-finals of the 2020/21 FUFA Women Elite League in scintillating fashion after obliterating Ajax Queens on Sunday.

In a one side affair, She Maroons showed their mighty and dominated in every aspect to dispatch hapless Ajax Queens.

Right from onset, all indicators showed the Prison Warders were in perfect shape and looked the better side.

As early as the second minute, the floodgates were opened as striker and captain of the day Millicent Namwembe set the tone of the game with a sweet finish.

She beat Joanita Nassali for pace to slot past onrushing goalkeeper Pamela Nakayondo, thanks to Kautharah Naluyima who set her up.

Five minutes later, Babirye produced one of the best goals at the tournament with her intended cross beating the goalkeeper and going straight into the back of the net.

With Ajax Queens still at sixes and sevens, She Maroons kept surging forward and Namwembe got her second on the day in the 13^th minute to stretch the lead further.

Ajax Queens seemed to have calmed their nerves and She Maroons contended with the big lead slowed down the tempo a bit.

At the start of the second half, Ajax Queens lost goalkeeper Nakayondo through injury and striker Annet Namwenge switched to goal.

Jacinta Nanjobe who replaced Nakayondo got the consolation for Ajax Queens with her left-footed effort beating goalkeeper Esther Akujo in the 67th minute.

She Maroons FC will face Wakiso Hills in the semifinals on Tuesday. The latter edged Amuria High School 1-0 in the first Quarterfinal on Sunday.

Amuria High School 0-1 Wakiso Hills WFC

Wakiso Hills defied odds to overcome Amuria High School WFC on Sunday and earn a slot into the semi-finals.

Despite struggling to qualify out of Group D and garnering just 4 points, Wakiso Hills managed to defeat Amuria High School who topped Group C with 9 points and scored 12 goals.

In the absence of skipper Faridah Nanyonjo who was suspended because of card accumulation, Wakiso Hills played as one unit.

The decisive moment came in the 67^th minute when Amuria defender Josephine Atilong directed a corner kick into the back of her own net.

Amuria looked a shadow of themselves and failed to replicate the performance they had had in the Group stages.

The absence of influential captain Emmanuel Akoel and Evans Kunihira seemed to have destabilized the game approach for Amuria who looked to be at sixes and sevens.

Wakiso Hills therefore become the third team to secure a berth into the semi-finals, joining Rines WFC and Bunyaruguru.

The Antelopes will face either She Maroons or Ajax Queens who face off in the final quarter final game.

Rines SS WFC 0(5) -0(4) Dynamic SS Jjeza WFC

Rines Women Football Club became the second team to confirm their place in the Semi-finals of this year’s FUFA Women Elite League after overcoming Dynamic SS Jjeza in a closely contested game on Saturday.

The game had few scoring opportunities for either side. The two teams struggled to find the breakthrough.

For instance, the opening stanza had only two chances one falling to Shadia Nabukenya of Dynamic SS Jjeza while Rines skipper Shakirah Nalule blasted wide at the death of the clock.

In the second half, Rines started on the front foot and made several inroads but failed to find efficiency in the final third.

Substitute Yuster Kayesu nearly broke the deadlock with five minutes on the clock but her feeble effort was saved by goalkeeper Scovia Kabiiri.

In the kicks from the penalty mark, Rines WFC were perfect and had goalkeeper Elsie Najjemba to thank after saving Victoria Namakula’s effort.

Shakira Nalule, Eva Nagayi, Yuster Kayesu, Florence Nakalule and Maureen Nankinga all converted their kicks.

On the other hand, Daphine Nalubowa, Aisha Namukaaya, Frankline Natumanya and Sandra Nakalya scored for Dynamic SS Jjeza.

Rines WFC will now face Bunyaruguru Girls in the semi-finals on Tuesday. The latter overcame King of Kings in the other quarterfinal.

King of Kings 0-2 Bunyaruguru Girls

Bunyaruguru Girls FC became the first team to book a berth into the semi-finals of this year’s FUFA Women Elite League after overcoming King of Kings on Saturday.

The Rubirizi district based outfit showed class as they defeated King of Kings from Fort Portal, winning the contest 2-0.

Winger Norah Alupo was the heroine for Bunyaruguru scoring a brace on the day with a goal in either half.

Bunyaruguru started the better side making attempt after attempt with their opponents seemingly failing to march the pace.

Bridget Mbambo had the first attempt at goal for Bunyaruguru but goalkeeper Diana Kirungi was equal to the effort.

Esther Naimana nearly found the back of the net with her long range effort tipped over by goalkeeper Kirungi who had moved off her line.

On the other hand, Sharon Kanyiginya and Evelyne Katusiime who were instrumental for King of Kings in group stages failed to come to the party.

Defender Kaheru was sent off in the 39^th minute after picking a second yellow card. She was initially booked in the 35^th minute and was given marching orders four minutes later after ferrying down Halima Katushabe.

At the start of the second stanza, coach Rogers Ayesiga of King of Kings called for the first change of the game, bringing on defender Rosemary Amanyire for striker Daisy Kangume.

Despite pilling up pressure to find the equaliser, Bunyaruguru proved impenetrable and did not give their opponents any chance at goal.

Alupo doubled the lead for Bunyaruguru firing home from the right wing to score her second goal of the day and her third at the tournament.

Bunyaruguru held on to eventually claim victory and advance to the semi-finals where they will face either Rines WFC or Dynamic SS Jjeza who play in the other Quarterfinal on Saturday.

EHCOS WFC 0-3 Wakiso Hills

Wakiso Hills Women Football Club joined She Maroons as the two teams that qualified out of Group D to the quarterfinals after overcoming Eastern Hope College, Soroti(EHCOS) on Friday.

With She Maroons already sealing their spot by matchday two, the other slot was open to the rest of the other teams.

She Maroons eventually defeated Lango Queens and the chance to qualify remained to Wakiso Hills and EHCOS WFC who faced off in the last game.

Despite starting on a sloppy note, Wakiso Hills eventually came good in the second stanza to secure a 3-0 win.

Justine Birabwa curled home direct from a free kick in the 50^th minute to give Wakiso Hills the lead while striker Slyvia Nabiwanda who had initially rattled the upright made a follow up and doubled the lead from the rebound.

The icing on the cake came in the 83^rd minute, coming yet again from the free kick with Faith Namuddu this time finding the back of the net.

In the first game, She Maroons fought hard to edge past Lango Queens. The goal arrived in the 81^st with Winnie Kyomugisha scoring.

She Maroons who topped Group D with nine points will face Ajax Queens at the quarterfinal stage while Wakiso Hills on the other hand will play Group C leaders Amuria High School.

She Maroons secured a berth into the quarterfinals of the FUFA Women Elite League after overcoming Wakiso Hills WFC on Wednesday at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

The Prison Warders had to come from a goal down to win 2-1 and progress to the knockout phase.

Faridah Nanyonjo had given Wakiso Hills the lead in the 43^rd minute to put them in the driving seat at the interval.

However, SHE Maroons returned recharged in the second stanza with substitute Winnie Kyomugisha turning the game around.

The forward levelled matters with a well taken free kick, three minutes after coming on. She later scored the winner converted from the spot after Lillian Veronica Masinde was brought down in the box.

She Maroons have qualified with six points and will play their final group game against Lango Queens while Wakiso Hills will face Ehcos WFC.

Ehcos WFC 1-1 Lango Queens

Ehcos WFC brightened their hopes of qualifying to the knockout stages of this year’s FUFA Women Elite League after earning a late equalizer against Lango Queens on Wednesday.

Despite losing 6-1 in their opening game against SHE Maroons, Ehcos returned a better side and eventually earned a point.

They conceded first with Joan Adong socring two minutes before the break but a late equalizer by substitute Martha Ajoro gave Ehcos a lifeline.

The first half was largely devoid of scoring opportunities with either side lacking conviction in the final third.

It was Adong who broke the deadlock in the 43^rd minute with her powerful strike going straight into the back of the net.

Ehcos were unfortunate to lose first choice goalkeeper Sarah Anyipo through injury and she did not return for the second half. Grace Ikalamu replaced her and she did well not to concede.

With the game destined to the end, Ajoro who had come on in place of Rachael Abiyo tucked home the equaliser.

Lango Queens have two points in two games and will play SHE Maroons on Friday while Echoes on the other hand with one point will take on Wakiso Hills.

SHE Maroons WFC should their intentions of winning this year’s FUFA Women Elite League in their first game of Group D on Tuesday at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

A brilliant display saw the Prison Warders humiliate Soroti based Echoes WFC, winning the game 6-1 to take early lead in Group D.

Sharp striker Millicent Namwembe orchestrated the damage, scoring a hat trick on the day, the third in the season.

Midfielder Kautharah Naluyima netted a brace while second half substitute Winnie Kyomugisha put the icing on the cake with the sixth goal.

The consolation for Echoes FC came midway in the first half Shilla Amadit.

Namwembe opened the scores as early as the 10^th minute with a neat finish inside the area before Naluyima doubled the lead three minutes later.

By halftime, SHE Maroons FC led 3-0 with Namwembe adding the other. She completed her hat trick a minute into the second stanza.

Naluyima and Kyomugisha added the other two goals to ensure SHE Maroons complete the rout.

SHE Maroons will return to action on Tuesday against Wakiso Hills while Echoes FC will take on Lango Queens.

Wakiso Hills and Lango Queens played out to a barren stalemate as action in Group D of the FUFA Women Elite League got underway on Tuesday at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

In a game of limited scoring opportunities, both Wakiso Hills and Lango Queens looked blunt on the day especially in the final third.

Wakiso Hills despite being comfortable on the ball and dominating possession, Faith Namuddu and Sylvia Namiwanda failed to utilise the few chances created.

This was the first goalless draw in the FUFA Women Elite League this season.

Swalleh Kamya, the coach of Wakiso Hills indicated that they will build on the point earned in their next games.

“Our target is to still qualify out of the group. We wanted three points but the point earned today is not safe.” He said.

His counterpart, Patrick Bongo on the other hand stated that this was the first time for most of the players and he believes the playing surface had a bearing on their performance.

“I’m happy that we got a point. Most of the players were only making their debut and it was the first time playing on the artificial turf.” He indicated.

Ajax Queens 1-0 Vision WFC

Amuria High School 8-1 St. Peters WFC

Amuria High School Women Football Club showed no mercy for new comers St. Peters WFC from Apac District as they obliterated them on match day 2 of Group C in the FUFA Women Super League.

A dominant display saw Amuria High School register the biggest win at the tournament so far. They won 8-1 to remain top of the log on 2 wins in as many games.

Despite St. Peters looking an improved side in the first half, they finally gave up and ran out of steam in the second stanza.

Captain Emmanuela Akoel gave Amuria High School the lead but St. Peters who competed favourably draw matters level through skipper Dollica Aceng.

Amuria High School regained their lead at the death of the clock in the first half when Rehema Akurut headed home from close range.

It should be noted that Akurut didn’t start the game and came off the bench in the 32^nd minute.

The second half was largely one-way traffic with Amuria High School scoring for fun.

Captain Akoel added one goal to take her goal tally to four and go top on the scorers’ chart.

Grace Nasongo grabbed a second half hat trick to earn a perfect birthday gift.

The other goals were scored by Polline Anyakun and Rukia Aringo to complete the rout.

Amuria High School WFC is all but through to the Quarterfinals. They need to avoid a heavy defeat to Vision WFC in their final group game on Sunday.

On the other hand, Ajax Queens who won 1-0 against Vision WFC have to score as many goals against St. Peters SS.

Vision WFC 0-1 Ajax Queens FC

Ajax Queens Bulega registered their first win at the 2020/21 FUFA Women Elite League after overcoming Vision WFC on Friday at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

After suffering defeat in their opening game against Amuria High School, WFC, Ajax Queens needed maximum points to resuscitate their hopes of qualifying out of the Group.

They did exactly what was required of them to secure a hard fought win against a resilient Vision WFC side.

Maraget Nalubega scored the lone goal of the game, coming as early as the 8^th minute and this eventually turned out of the decisive moment.

The striker capitalised on poor defending by Vision WFC and her feeble effort that deflected off defender Recho Aciro to beat goalkeeper Irene Alumu.

Alumu failed to save and instead pushed the ball into her own net to give Ajax Queens the lead.

Annet Namwenge and Carol Nankyanzi had attempts at goal to double the lead for Ajax Queens but failed in their pursuit.

In the second half, Vision WFC seemed a rejuvenated side and made several attempts especially through skipper Farida Oyella but they lacked conviction.

Thev Kitgum based side were reduced to ten players with six minutes to play when midfielder Sharon Akullo was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Ajax Queens will now face St. Peters WFC in their final game on Sunday while Vision WFC on the other hand will play Amuria High School.

Ajax Queens 2-3 Amuria High School WFC

St. Peters Apoi Girls FC 0-5 Vision WFC

Vision Women Football Club earned the bragging rights in the Northern derby, overcoming hapless St. Peters Apoi Girls Football Club on Thursday.

A scintillating display saw Vision WFC win the one-sided affair 5-0 to go top in Group C.

Captain Farida Oyella and diminutive forward Sharippher Atimango scored a brace each while Phiona Arach netted the opener to give Vision WFC a comfortable win.

Arach opened the scores as early as the 6^th minute when she beat St. Peters defence for pace to fire home.

From then onwards, it became one-way traffic as Vision FC kept bombarding at St. Peters goal and indeed scored for fun.

Skipper Oyella doubled the lead in the 11^th minute before Atimango stretched it further seven minutes later.

By halftime, the scoreline read 4-0 with Oyella completing her brace on the day in the 25^th minute.

St. Peters seemed an improved side in the second half but still lacked conviction. Atimango put the icing on the cake with the fifth goal coming at the death of the clock.

Action in Group C resumes on Friday with Ajax Queens taking on Vision WFC while Amuria High School will face St. Peters.

Ajax Queens 2-3 Amuria High School WFC

Amuria High School made a perfect start to the FUFA Women Elite League after overcoming Ajax Queens in the opening game of Group C on Thursday.

A spirited performance saw them edge past Ajax Queens, winning 3-2 with the winning goal coming two minutes to fulltime.

Amuria High School had skipper Emmanuel Akoel to thank. She scored a brace on the day with her second goal being the decisive moment.

She tapped home from a corner after Ajax Queens defence was caught sleeping on job.

Despite wasting several chances especially in the first half, Rehema Akurut broke the deadlock a minute to the mandatory break with a neat finish past goalkeeper Pamela Nakayondo who saved Ajax Queens on numerous occasions.

Akoel doubled the lead for the school side, three minutes after restart but Ajax Queens were quick to pull back one through Annet Namwange whose well taken free kick went straight into the back of the net.

The goal gave Ajax Queens hope and they seemed a rejuvenated side thereafter. By the 63^rd minute, Moureen Nangozi had found the equalizer in what was a well worked team goal.

With the game destined for the end, Akoel tapped home to help her team secure maximum points.

The two teams will return to action on Friday with Ajax Queens taking Vision WFC while Amuria High School will play St. Peters.

Rines SS WFC 1-0 Kataka SHE

Bunyaruguru Girls Town View SS

Bunyaruguru Girls WFC from Rubirizi District secured the second place in Group B after overcoming Town View SS in the final Group game on Tuesday at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

Despite suffering loss in their second game against Rines SS, Bunyaruguru recovered to collect three points against Town View SS to earn position two with six points.

Striker Halima Katushabe orchestrated the damage against Town View SS, netting a brace while the other goal came from Norah Alupo.

Right from onset, Bunyaruguru looked the better side and dominated proceedings. It did not take long for them to open the scores.

Katushabe broke the deadlock two minutes after the half hour mark with a sole run before slotting into the back of the net.

She had several efforts to double the lead but couldn’t find the target when she found herself with yards of space.

In the second stanza, Bunyaruguru scored two goals to put the game beyond reach with Alupo easily tapping home from a corner in the 56^th minute before Katushabe added the other six minutes later.

Bunyaruguru Girls SS will now face King of Kings in the quarterfinals. The latter topped Group A with six points.

Rines SS who topped Group B with maximum points (9) will take on Dynamic SS Jjeza who came second in Group A.

Rines SS WFC became the first team to secure qualification out of Group B of the 2020/21 FUFA Women Elite League after overcoming Kataka SHE on Tuesday.

Skipper Shakira Nalule converted a penalty in the first half and this eventually turned out to be decisive moment of the game.

Nalule tucked home from 18 yards after Kataka SHE defender Catherine Namataka fouled Betty Nakubulwa inside the box.

Kataka SHE looked a shadow of themselves from their previous game (against Town View SS) and failed to replicate their performance.

Rines SS on the other hand knew what they wanted and did just enough to hold on and secure maximum points.

They will now face Dynamic SS Jjeza in the quarterfinals. The Mukono based side finished second in Group A with 4 points.

Rines SS coach Bright Nyanzi says they have achieved the first target but hopes to make improvements prior to the knockout stages.

“I’m happy that we have jumped the first hurdle but we now have to improve before the knockout games because it will require us to double our efforts.” He said.

Kataka SHE resuscitated their hopes of progressing through Group B with an emphatic win over Town View SS on Sunday at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

In an exciting encounter, Kataka SHE FC eventually came out on top, winning the game 4-2.

The opening stanza ended with a 2-2 score but dimunitive forward Esther Namataka was the difference in the second half, scoring a brace to guide Kataka SHE to victory.

Both Kataka SHE and Town View SS came into Sunday’s clash on the bank of losses in their opening games and need to return to the rails.

It was Kataka SHE who drew the first blood in the 10^th minute through right back Catherine Namataka whose well taken drive went into the back of the net, beating goalkeeper Rose Bamaniriza who had moved off her line.

The lead was however short-lived with Town View SS levelling matters four minutes later thanks to a well taken free kick by Saluwa Nakaima.

Poor goalkeeping by Bamaniriza once again cost Town View SS when the shot stopper failed to time well Shakira Nandudu’s delivery from a free kick and the ball bounced off the ground before going to the back of the net.

Three minutes from the mandatory break, Elizabeth Anyango completed off a well worked goal when Dorcus Kwikiriza teed her up inside the area.

The second half was literally about Namataka who beat Town View SS defence for pace on two occasions to guide Kataka SHE to victory.

The two teams will return to action on Tuesday with SHE Kataka playing against Rines SS WFC while Bunyaruguru will take on Town View SS.
