A total of 18 goals were recorded over Saturday and Sunday as the FUFA Women Elite League returned with the second round matches.
Four goals were scored in the two matches played on Saturday with 14 goals recorded in four matches played on Sunday.
UCU Lady Cardinals registered the biggest scoreline in the 5-0 home victory against Wakiso Hills in Mukono.
Moureen Kinavudori bagged a hat-trick with the other two goals coming from Teddy Najuma and Hasifa Nasunah.
Uganda Martyrs Lubaga defeated She Mak at Makerere University play ground.
Sharon Namatovu netted a brace and Spencer Nakacwa scored the other goal.
At Villa Park play ground in the heart of Kampala city, Kampala Queens overcame Isra Academy 3-1.
Rita Nakirijja, Damalie Matama and Mable Kusasira found the goals for Farida Bulega’s coached side as Mwajuma Namukwasi was on mark for the consolation.

Earlier on Saturday, Kawempe Muslim S.S edged Mutesa I Royal University 2-0 whilst Rines S.S and Ajax Queens shared the spoils in a one all draw.
The FUFA Women Elite League second round kicked off on Saturday, 10th February 2018 with two matches.
Reigning cup league champions Kawempe Muslim S.S started in style with a 2-0 victory at home against Muteesa I Royal University.
Asia Nakibuuka scored a brace in the game.
The other game between Rines S.S and Ajax Queens ended in a one all stalemate.
Annet Namwenge was on target for Ajax Queens while Halima Nanteza replied for Rines S.S
The women Elite League continues on Sunday, 11th February 2018 with 5 matches.
She Corporate is at home against Western United at MUBS, She Mak entertains Uganda Martyrs Lubaga at Makerere and Eastern Heroes shall host Olila Women in Soroti.

The FUFA Emergency Committee that sat on Friday morning 26th January, 2018 at FUFA House in Mengo to discuss adjustments on FUFA budgets has passed key financial decisions with effect from 1st January.
Decisions on key areas will be implemented with immediate effect but here are highlights in the areas of club football and refereeing for 2017/2018 season where prize monies have either been introduced or improved;
The prize monies for FUFA Competitions have increased from UGX 20M to UGX 426M.

Champions, Cup Winners and rankings of other teams in the FUFA Competitions will be rewarded with cash prizes at the end of each football season. The figures as broken down apply to the 2017/2018 season;
FUFA has set aside prize monies worth UGX 426 M for 10 Competitions in the 2017/2018 season.

Payment for Referees’ fees in Regional Leagues
FUFA has also taken a giant step and will now pay the close to 200 referees’ match fees who officiate in the 8 Regional leagues (Northern, West Nile, North East, Western, Buganda, Kampala, Kitara and Eastern).
It should be noted that FUFA has been meeting the referees’ match day costs in the Uganda Premier League, FUFA Big League, FUFA Juniors League, Uganda Cup, FUFA Women Elite League and FUFA Women’s Cup.

The Emergency Committee meeting was attended by FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo, Justus Mugisha (1st FUFA Vice President), Darius Mugoye (2nd Vice President), Rasoul Ariga (Chairman FUFA Finance Committee), Chris Kalibala (Executive Member), Rogers Byamukama (Executive Member), Hamid Juma (Executive Member), Humphrey Mandu (FUFA Deputy CEO) and George Bakiwanya (FUFA Finance Assistant).
Ahead of the long awaited kick off for the second round of the FUFA Women Elite League, the key stake holders (Club head coaches, Chief Executive Officers and Goalkeepers’ coaches) convened at a largely successful interactive meeting held at FUFA House in Mengo, Kampala.
The meeting was presided over by the FUFA Executive Committee Member and the Chairman of the Uganda Football Development Committee Chris Kalibala.
Mr Kalibala was flanked by the Federation Technical Director Asuman Lubowa, the Acting FUFA Competition Secretary Hajjati Aisha Nalule, Jackson Nyiima (FUFA Education Officer), Hadijah ‘Lady Mourihoh’ Namuyanja (FUFA Women Officer), Bashir Mutyaba (FUFA Youth Officer), Faridah Bulega (Uganda Crested Cranes head coach), as well as other members of the FUFA Competitions development.

The meeting rotated around the review of the first round for the 2017/18 FUFA Women Elite League first round in projection of how to make it better in the subsequent round.
Also, several crucial aspects of the game in the areas of Technical, Competition were discussed as well.
‘The meeting yielded fruitful deliberations because it was very interactive and education as well. Key important ideas were shared and discussed in a healthy way’ Namuyanja affirmed to www.fufa.co.ug.
Club CEO’s were further reminded of their respective roles and tasks at hand, all intended on how best to ensure tranquility, organization, marketing gimmicks at club level as the Women Elite League grows to greater heights.
Also, regulations concerning affluent governance structures, transfer of players, respect of fixtures as well as education of coaches were also a key hint during the meeting.

“Coaches for instance were further reminded on how to make the players understanding the game especially with football basics as we continue with the development process of players and the league as a whole. This development league has clearly set objectives, which we are working towards to’ Namuyanja added.
All the clubs that feature in the Women Elite League, apart from Gafford Ladies were represented at the meeting.
Meanwhile, the fixtures for the second round and the FUFA Women Cup will be released by the federation competitions department as soon as possible.
Relatedly, the various clubs continue to prepare for the second round kick off with training sessions and build up matches here and there.
The latest build up at Villa Park played between Kampala Queens and Kawempe Muslim ended one all.
The first round of the 2017/18 Fufa Women Elite League successfully ended over the weekend with three games played across different grounds.
Western United registered their first win this season with a hard-fought 2-1 win against She Corporate in the game played at Kabwohe playground.
After going six games without a point, Western United defied odds to condemn visiting She Corporate to a 2-1 defeat on Saturday.
A goal apiece from Halima Alishe and Sawuyah “Sanya” Babirye were enough to spur the Mbarara based side to victory despite She Corporate pulling one back through Aisha Nsmubiru.
Despite the win, Western United remained grounded bottom of Victoria group on three points while She Corporate ended the first round in fourth place on six points.
In Elizabeth group, Olila High School Women Football Club ensured they extended their perfect run this season picking the 7th win in as many games.
Airtel FUFA Female player of the year Fazilah Ikwaput struck twice to help Olila defeat Isra Academy 4-1 in the game played in Soroti on Sunday.
This meant, Ikwaput took her goal tally to nine and currently leads the scoring chart. The other goals for Olila came through Norah Alupo and Ritah Nabbosa while Fauziah Najjemba got Isra’s consolation.
Olila ended the first round with maximum points ( 21 in seven games), the only team to attain the feat this season.
On Saturday, Isra Academy had edged Eastern Heroes 1-0 with Najjemba netting the lone strike of the game.
The second round is expected to resume in February next year and the top two teams in either group qualify for the playoff phase to determine the champion.
UCU Lady Cardinals were the biggest winners over the weekend as the 2017-18 FUFA Women Elite league continued with six games.
The Mukono based club humbled newly promoted Isra Academy 4-0. Ajax Queens recorded the same scoreline over Western United.
Moureen Afoyo and Annet Namwenge each scored a brace for Ajax Queens at the Kabwohe playground in Sheema District.
Wakiso won 1-0 away from home against the Eastern Heroes and Rines S.S also edged Muteesa Royal University 1-0.
Two matches ended in non scoring stalemates. Gafford Ladies and holders Kawempe Muslim S.S as well as Uganda Martyrs – Kampala Queens encounter failed to register any goals.
Moments after being crowned as the Most Valuable Player at the prestigious Airtel FUFA Awards 2017, Olila Women Club forward Fazila Ikwaput had some playing time as her club defeated Kampala Queens 2-1 at Villa Park play ground on Saturday.
Olila scored through Sharon Achen and Norah Alupo as Kampala Queens’ consolation came from Hadijah Nampijja.
Ikwaput was introduced in the second stanza of the game.
In the other matches played, Moureen Kinavodori master minded the 7-0 victory of UCU Lady Cardinal against Wakiso Hills at the UCU main campus play ground in Mukono.
Kinavodori scored four times. Hasifa Nassuuna grabbed a brace and Yudaya Nakayenze got the other strike.

Carol Nakyanzi and Moureen Afoyo were on target for Ajax Queens and Jackie Nassali’s goal for Rines painted the scoreline a worthy respectable second look.

The Airtel FUFA Awards 2017 shall be held on Friday, 1st December 2017 at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala.
A grand prize of a brand new car and One Million Shillings awaits the winner in the male and female catergories.

Hasifah Nasuuna was top scorer in the FUFA Women Elite League (FWEL) with 26 goals where she scored 5 times on two occasions and also scored 4 on three different matches in the league.
She was a champion with Kawempe Muslim Secondary School in the FWEL 2016/17 season.
Kawempe Muslim S.S also reached the quarter finals in the 2017 FUFA Women Cup.
The clinical Nassuuna guided Kawempe Muslim to second place in the FEASSA 2017 Games in Gulu, scoring 3 goals.
Fazilah Ikwaput scored crucial goals for Olila High School
FAZILA IKWAPUT
Fazila Ikwaput guided her club Olila High School to win the 2017 FUFA Women Cup. She was also the tournament top scorer with 5 goals.
In the FUFA Women Elite League, her 6 goals helped Olila High School to reach the play-offs for the first time in their history and finished fourth in the domestic league.
Given her outstanding performance, she was voted Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the league.
Goalkeeper Vanessa Karungi had an impressive season

Vaness Karungi is a goalkeeper with Olila High School Women Football Club.
Her club finished fourth in the FUFA Women Elite League with 8 clean sheets to her name.
She won the FUFA Women Cup, and was outstanding when she saved two penalty kicks on two occasions both at the semi finals and the final match.
Karungi had three clean sheets in FUFA Women cup.
She was a champion of the National schools women football tournament as Mukono High School clinched their maiden title.
She finished the tournament without conceding any goal in 9 matches, saving penalty kicks on two occasions semis and final in Kabale.
Her school finished third in FEASSA with 3 clean sheets ,saving penalty kicks in the third place playoffs against Tanzania’s Alliance High School.
She also won the 2017 Buganda Cup without conceding any goal in 5 games and also won the 2017 famous Maama Becca Cup.
Eastern Heroes vs Uganda Martyrs High Lubaga (Sunday 26th Nov, 2017)
Olila High School and Kawempe Muslim Secondary School women football teams can’t stop winning. Both teams maintained their perfect start to the 2017/2018 FUFA Women Elite League season by winning their 4th games in a row.
However Olila and Kawempe recorded identical 1-0 win over their opponents on Saturday. Kawempe edge She Corporate at a venue where the home side has lost a league fixture while Olila saw off Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga in Soroti.
Amoding Siporosa netted for Olila High School while Apon Sharon was on target for the defending Champions Kawempe Muslim Secondary School.
In Kanyanya, Gafford bounced back to winning ways with a hard fought 2-1 win over Muteesa I Royal University ahead of the classic derby against eternal rivals Kawempe Muslim on 9th December. Kalungi Gertrude and Lillian Veronica scored for Gafford Ladies while Namatovu Sharon was on the score sheet for Muteesa Royal University.
In Mukono, UCU Lady Cardinals were beaten 1-0 by visitors Kampala Queens thanks to a Matama Damalie goal.

Ikwaput Fazilah set the weekend action rolling with a beauty of a goal from long range in Mukono then scored another in Wakiso when Olila High Scholl defeated home side UCU Lady Cardinals 2-1 and saw off Wakiso Hills 3-0 in the FUFA Women Elite League over the weekend.
Only one match was played on Saturday but several were played on Sunday across the country. Heading into the match on Saturday dubbed the ‘MVP Nominees’ clash’, all eyes were on Hasifah Nassuuna of UCU, Ikwaput and her teammate Vanesa Karungi (Olila High School).
The trio was nominated for the Airtel FUFA Female player of the year award. Unfortunately Goalkeeper Karungi never featured in the game but watched from the stands with both her parents. Karungi was given permission to concentrate on her exams at Mukono High School.
The centre stage was left to both Ikwaput and Nassuuna on Saturday.

Both players were on the score sheet but Ikwaput’s long range goal slightly after the centre line sent her side into the lead as goalkeeper Ruth Aturo was caught off guard following her initial poor clearance of the ball and failure to go back to the goal in time.

UCU conceded an own goal by Kemisa Adam just before halftime but were later on the score sheet with a consolation late on thanks to Nassuuna’s strike.

At Buddo SS, Apon Sharon and Habiba Namalwa were on target for the Champions Kawempe Muslim SS in their 2-0 win over home side Ajax Queens. Coach Micheal Natima’s Ajax conceded their first goals and also suffered maiden loss of the league this season.

The FUFA Women Elite League has continued to grow both in stature and competition over the years. The start of the 2017/18 season has even provided more competition in the games played so far.
Action continues this week with interesting fixtures as Ajax Queens Football Club host defending champions Kawempe Muslim Women Football Club at Buddo SS in the top of the table clash in Victoria group.

The encounter has received great hype including the two teams holding a joint press conference on Friday at FUFA House, the first of its kind in women’s football in Uganda.
Kawempe Muslim currently lead Victoria group with maximum points in the three games played while Ajax Queens follow closely in second place on seven points but yet to concede a goal this season.
Ayub Khalifa the head coach at Kawempe Muslim believes the team is ready to pick maximum points come Sunday.
“We are prepared to face Ajax Queens and we are confident the team will get all three points” he said before adding, “ Ajax Queens are a good team but I believe we are better and have the capacity to edge past them.”

Similarly his counterpart Michael Natima, the head coach at Ajax Queens is confident his team has what it takes to defeat Kawempe Muslim.
“We are aware about the magnitude of the game and that is why we have been working hard in training, the team is in good shape and ready to overcome our opponents.” Natima asserted.

The joint press conference was also attended by players from both Kawempe Muslim and Ajax Queens. Juliet Nalukenge and captain Mariam Nakabugo represented Kawempe Muslim while defender Joan Nassali spoke on behalf of Ajax Queens.
Mariam Nakabugo vowed not to give chance to Ajax Queens and she is confident her side will walk away victors on Sunday.
“As players, we are prepared for the game, the results in the games we have played so far give us confidence heading into Sunday’s clash and I have the confidence we shall get all three points.”
Her teammate and the current top scorer with five goals Juliet Nalukenge has also vowed to extend her scoring form against a side that is yet to concede.
“I’m not fazed by the fact that Ajax Queens are yet to concede. I have scored in all the games we have played this season and I believe even on Sunday, I will for my team to win,” she said.

On the other hand, Joan Nassali the second vice captain Ajax Queens has indicated they are ready to face Kawempe Muslim.
“We are in good shape, the morale in the camp is high and everyone is ready for the game. Our target this season is to win the league title and we must show that by defeating defending champions Kawempe Muslim,” said Nassali.
On Saturday, Uganda Christian University (UCU) Lady Cardinals hosts Olila Women in another highly anticipated clash. Besides being a top of the table clash in Elizabeth group, the game also provides a platform for all the contenders for this year’s nominees for the Airtel FUFA women player.
Hasifah Nassuna( UCU Lady Cardinals), Fazilah Ikwaput and Vanessa Karungi ( both for Olila Women) will feature in this encounter in this game.
Olila come into this game on the back of a comprehensive 6-0 victory against She MAK with Ikwaput scoring five the six goals. Olila will return to action on Sunday against Wakiso Hills.
The other games to be played include Muteesa I Royal University hosting Western United at Wankulukuku, She MAK who lost to Olila Women last week will try to make amends against Uganda Martyrs High School while Isra Academy will be at home to Kampala Queens.

The shining star of North East Region women football Ikwaput Fazilah kicked off the new season in style by scoring 5 goals in Olila’s 6-0 victory over Makerere’s She MAK in the FUFA women Elite League.
Norah Alupo scored the other goal for the home side.
Ikwaput who was the MVP of the 2016/17 season when she took her team Olila High School to the play offs for the first time was on fire on Sunday afternoon in Soroti.
Her team had not kicked a ball since the start of the league as there would be opening fixture against Eastern Heroes wasn’t played because their opponents never showed up on the day for the fixture.
Ikwaput, who has also been nominated for the Airtel FUFA Female player of the year award, will lead her team against UCU Lady Cardinals in Mukono for another league fixture on Saturday 18th November.
That match will also have two nominees for the MVP award Hasifah Nassuuna (UCU Lady Cardinals) and Vanessa Karungi (Olila High School).

Match day four of the FUFA Women Elite league produced thrilling moments in the five games played across the different grounds over the weekend.
Reigning champions Kawempe Muslim continued their brilliant start to the season with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Rines WFC.
In the game played at the Valley ground on Saturday, Kawempe needed an extra effort to edge past hard fighting Rines WFC.
The visitors took the lead through Aisha Namagembe but an own goal from defender Peace Janat and on form striker Juliet Nalukenge saw Kawempe stage a comeback.
The result meant Kawempe Muslim top Victoria group on nine points in three games.
Kampala Queens ascended to the summit of Elizabeth group with a comfortable 2-0 win against She MAK at Villa Park on Saturday.
The game watched by FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo saw midfielder Zaina Namuleme strike a brace to spur Kampala Queens to a 2-1 victory over She MAK.

On Sunday, Ajax Queens Football Club put up a brilliant display to dispatch Gafford Ladies in a thrilling game played at Kanyanya playground.
A well taken free kick by defender Bridget Nabisaalu and another goal from Maureen Afoyo helped Ajax Queens to secure their first ever win against Gafford Ladies. All the previous four engagements the two sides had ended in stalemates.
The result moved Ajax Queens second on the log in Victoria group on seven points, two behind leaders Kawempe Muslim.

This was the third barren draw for the Nakawa based side this season in four games. The other two came against Gafford Ladies and Ajax Queens.
Uganda Martyrs High School Rubaga earned their first win this season edging past Wakiso Hills.
An own goal from defender Agnes Mukera in the first half was enough to help Uganda Martyrs secure maximum points and move to five points in three games.
The top two teams in either group of Elizabeth and Victoria at the end of the regular season will qualify for the playoffs to determine the champion.

Engagements between Gafford Ladies and Ajax Queens Women Football Club have never come easy.
For the four times that the two sides have faced off, there hasn’t been a winner with all games ending in stalemates.
And ahead of the clash this Sunday at Kanyanya Sports Ground either side will be seeking to get a positive result.
Gafford come into this game in buoyant mood after earning a hard-fought 1-0 win against Western United last weekend away in Mbarara.
Kenyan lethal forward Lillian Veronica Zedi will be at the forefront to spur Gafford past visiting Ajax Queens.
Ajax Queens on the other hand haven’t been in action for a fortnight but have so far collected for points in the two games they have played this season.

Kawempe have rided on the efficiency of striker Juliet Nalukenge who has scored four goals in two games.

A total of 32 coaches successfully completed the FUFA Beginners’ coaching course that climaxed in Kabale on Friday.
The training that started on Monday at Kabale Municipal Stadium and Victoria Inn, saw 6 female coaches attend, the highest number for a coursing course authorized by the Western region Football Association Western Uganda so far.
Instructor Bashir Mutyaba conducted the course alongside Hajji Abbasi Sendyowa who took the referees through the FFA Laws of the Game.
FUFA Executive member Chris Kalibbala, who represented the FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo at the official closing ceremony, thanked the participants for enduring the challenges during the course.
Kalibbala urged them to use the qualification as a means of helping to develop the young talents in their areas for the benefit of the National football teams.
‘A coach is like a teacher and therefore must have a systematic lesson or game plan and learn. You are supposed to program yourself for better results and management of your teams now’ said Kalibbala who was flanked by John Mutabrauka who is a member of the Uganda Football Coaches Association.
Kalibala further called on the female qualified coaches to start up a women football league for Kigezi region so as to have a team to qualify to play in the FUFA Women Elite league.
Kabale Municipal Sports officer Moses Tumwijukye who also attended the closing ceremony requested the participants to help FUFA minimize increased cases of organized football tournaments in the area by politicians, without going through the proper channels of football tournament arrangements.

The course was supported by FUFA, Western Region Football Association, Kabale District Football Association, Soccer2Unite and Kabale Municipal Council.
Former Proline FC player Imam Isaac Bumbuli enrolled for the course which he completed on Friday in Kabale.

Yudaya Nakayenze deployed in the midfield for her new team scored the only goal of the match on Sunday as UCU Lady Cardinals edged home side Makerere University women football team-SHE MAK.
The result helped UCU record their first win of the season after dropping points at the hands of Uganda Martyrs Rubaga on the opening weekend of the FUF Women Elite League 2017/18 season.
In Wakiso, Gafford Ladies played to yet another draw but this time managed to find the back of the net. Monica Namwesa scored Gafford’s first goal of the season in the 25th minute but were pegged back late in the game by Kayima Maggie who got the equalizer for Rines in the 87th minute. The match ended 1-1.

At the Valley grounds, new comers Isra Academy continue to surprise many women football lovers after coming from behind to draw 1-1 with Uganda Martyrs Rubaga.

Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC kicked off defence of the FUFA Women Elite League with a convincing 4-0 win over Western United.
Playing at their famous home ground dubbed the ‘Valley Ground’ where they have not lost a league game; all eyes were on the champions.
Western United headed into the game with a lot of confidence but little did they know what would hit them at the end of the 90 minutes.
With goalkeeper Aturo Ruth, Yudaya Nakayenze, Favor Nambatya and Hasifah Nassuuna all regular players at Kawempe last season gone to other clubs this season, Head coach Ayub Khalifan had to scratch his head for new ideas.

In the other fixtures of the day Wakiso Hills drew 1-1 with Kampala Queens. Mable Kusasira saved the day for the Queens who had conceded an own goal by Lillian Okello.

The 2017 Airtel FUFA Awards have been launched at Kampala Serena Hotel on Thursday.
For the third year running, telecommunications giants Airtel Uganda Limited will be the main sponsors.
Just like the previous editions, this year’s awards will be at Speke Resort Munyonyo on 1st December 2017.
Addressing the members of the media Dennis Mbidde, chairman of the 2017 FUFA Awards organizing committee, hailed the sponsors, partners, players, fans and the entire football fraternity for the necessary due support.

David Gonahasa, the managing director of Round Bob announced a $5000 sponsorship for the two winners to facilitate their travel expenses to the mid east.
