The FUFA Airtel Rising Stars U-17 Buganda region qualifiers successfully climaxed on Sunday evening at the Masaka recreational Stadium.
Nakaseke International School defended their title in the boys’ event and the girls’ event witnessed a new winner in Mukono High School.

Nakaseke overcame home team, Blessed Sacrament Kimanya 2-0 in the thrilling finals whilst Mukono High won the Mukono derby game, after beating Mukono Bishops 4-2 in breathe-taking penalties that had followed a one all draw in normal time.
The final day action had big wigs closing following the matches .
The chief guest, the Masaka Municipality mayor, Godfrey Kayemba warmly welcomed the guests to his constitutency as he appreciated Airtel Uganda and FUFA for picking Masaka to host the Buganda region qualifiers.
FUFA first vice president, Justus Mugisha appreciated Airtel Uganda once again for the love that the telecom giants has exhibited over the years to see Uganda’s football grow through leaps and bounds.
Mr. Mugisha echoed;
Airtel Uganda takes the leading slot in supporting Uganda’s football. Apart from being the national team main sponsors, Airtel Uganda also sponsors the FUFA Big league, the Uganda Cup and now the Airtel Rising Stars under17 programme. This is a big milestone and as FUFA we are so glad of you.
Other officials present were the Airtel Uganda Brand Executive, Musa Mayanja, Airtel Masaka Zonal Manager, Kenneth Wanasolo, FUFA technical director, Asuman Lubowa, referees’ co-ordinator, Catherine Adipo and special football scouts among others.

Prizes:
The two winning teams in either gender received branded gold medals, certificates and a trophy on top of a cash reward worth U.sh 1M with the runners up getting silver medals, certificates, a trophy and U.shs 500,000 cash prize.
Airtel Brand Executive Musa Mayanja further reaffirmed the ARS’ main objective;
The programme started five years ago with the main objectives of unearthing young talents and developing them. We have so far got some vivid fruits in Farouk Miya, Kezironi Kizito and Martin Kizza, who are all part of the current Uganda Kobs’ team
The excelling best players were named to represent Buganda team at the national finals which will take place on 31st August 2015 in Mbarara.

They will first undergo the MRI Scan tests to ascertain their true age bracket.
Isaya Sabiti and Jackie Amo were named the boys’ and girls’ Most Valuable Players in the Buganda qualifiers.
