SCVU Vs URA – Nelson Mandela Stadium, Namboole

Sports Club Victoria University (SCVU) plays host to the tax collectors’ team, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) at the ultra Nelson Mandela National stadium, Namboole.

This match will be televised live on Azam Television and will kick off at 4 :00 p.m.

Back then in the first round, Robert Sentongo won the day for URA as they beat a 10 man URA side after Jimmy Kulaba had been red carded.

This will be the URA’s warm up game prior to the CAF Confederations cup return leg slated for this Saturday at Namboole.

SCVU won their last game 3-1 at Namboole last week, overcoming Jinja based FUFA Big league side, Kirinya Jinja S.S in the Uganda Cup.
Perhaps, on form striker, Fahad Tokko will sit out the game after his red card in SCVU’s 1-2 away win at Kakindu Stadium.

In Tokko’s absence, Morley Byekwaso will look to the blistering pace of Daniel Ssekabembe and Muzamiru Mutyaba’s creativity in the midfield.

URA’s hunt for goals will rely on sharp striker, Robert Sentongo.
Peter Lwasa (ankle) and Frank Kalanda (malaria) will miss the game and coach Alex Isabirye will look to the creative force of midfield icons, Yasser Mugerwa, Ali Feni Muhammed and left winger, Elukana Nkugwa.

Simba Vs Soana – Bombo Military Stadium

The other game will witness Simba now sitting in 13th place as they play Soana F. C (14th with 21 points).

    SC Villa Vs BUL-Nakivubo Stadium:

At Nakivubo stadium, 16 time record champions, SC Villa host BUL F.C.

BUL players, Hood Mayanja, Umar Mukobe and Hashim Sempala who started on bench in the victory against Masavu in Uganda cup are all expected to feature in interim coach Joseph Mutayba’s starting lineup.

SC Villa kick starts life without head coach, Sam Ssimbwa as the interim coaching bench of Ibrahim Kirya and technical director, Phillip Obwiny takes over their maiden game for the Jogoos.

The first game ended goal-less at Kakindu stadium in Jinja.

Bright Stars Vs Vipers – Matugga

On form Bright Stars Football Club play Vipers Sports Club, the only unbeaten side in the league.
The Kawempe side whose last game was a 0-2 away victory over Paidah Black Angels in the Uganda Cup will miss the magic of on form midfielder Jimmy Lule Kibirige, who picked a red card in the 2-1loss to Police F.C at Kavumba last week.

Bright Stars sit 7th with 29 points and will build on the points picked during the goal-less first round draw away in Buikwe.

Julius Malingumu, Joseph Mpande, Farouk Miya and Kezironi Kizito will be the key elements for Vipers to seek for another routine positive victory in a bid to preserve their unbeaten run thus far.

UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE: Match Day 18 Preview for Tuesday Fixtures

After last week’s Friday and Saturday fixtures that smoothly progressed, the Uganda Premier League (UPL) returns on Tuesday with four of the match day 18 fixtures.

The other four games will be played on Friday (27th February 2015) at various venues.

After winning 0-1 away at Bugembe Stadium to Sadolin Paints last Saturday, Bright Stars Football club plays their first ever home game at the new Matugga stadium when Kira Young F.C (yet to play any second round game) travels for the away tie.

Goal keeper, Mathias Kigonya and right back, Joseph Nsubuga (from U-23 Uganda Kobs duty) are most likely to be unavailable due to fatigue.

Ironically, Kira Young will play Derrick Tekko (captain) and striker, Brian Nkuubi who were part of the Kobs’ away trip in Mozambique.

Left back Fred Nkata is expected to feature in his first game for Kira Young since transferring from SC Villa in the January window.

Lead goal keeper, Ashadu Bugembe will provide Kira Young the necessary back cover with striker Patrick Kaddu, new signing Yudah Mugalu and Nigerian import Lucky Bemidele leading the line.

With no injury concerns for Alex Isabirye’s side, URA is expected to line up a formidable line up, just after securing a last gasp equalizer against BUL F.C in the opener of the second round last Friday.

Yassar Mugerwa, Robert Sentongo, Patrick Ochan, wingers Peter Lwasa and either James Kasibante or Elukana Nkugwa will be URA’s talismanic symbols.

    Friday 20th February, 2015

    UPL Results:

    KCC 2-0 Simba

    BUL 0-0 Soana

    Rwenshama 1-0 SCVU

The reigning league champions, Kampala City Council (KCC) football club overcame Simba Sports Club 2-0 to pick their second consecutive victory since the start of the second round commenced.

Herman Wasswa and Derrick Nsibambi’s second half goals broke the stiff resistance of the footballing soldiers at the Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo in Kampala.

At Nakivubo stadium, Rashid Mutebi scored 9 minutes into the game and the home side, Rwenshama/KJT maintained to win 1-0 over Sports Club Victoria University (SCVU).

This was Rwenshama’s second victory in a space of 3 days following their 0-2 away victory to Simba F.C at the Bombo military stadium on Tuesday.

Away in Jinja district at the Kakindu stadium, 1o men Soana Football Club held the hosts, BUL F.C to a goal-less draw in a match that officially marked Joseph Mutyaba’s first home fixture as head coach.

KCC is now on the summit of the league table standings having accumulated 36 points, same as SC Villa who did not play because their fixture against Kira Young F.C was postponed (due to the players who traveled with the national U-23 team in Mozambique).

Vipers Sports Club has 35 points but still has a 2 game advantage since they have not featured in any fixture since the second round started.

The league resumes on Saturday with 3 games.

Entebbe F.C Vs KCC F.C – Bugonga Stadium

Champions Kampala City Council (KCC) travel to Entebbe’s new home in the lake side Bugonga village to face tricky opposition, Entebbe F.C.

After a disappointing first round, that not only witnessed Entebbe F.C fetch just 9 points, their former Head coach, Matia Lule also resigned.

KCC themselves let their former head tactician, George ‘Best’ Nsiimbe depart for greener pastures.

Matia Lule and George Nsiimbe have since settled in the Tanzanian league with Premier sides Stand F.C and Azam F.C respectively.

Former Assistant coach to Nsiimbe, Abduallah Mubiru has since taken over the reins at KCC while Entebbe is now coached by former Express F.C goal keeper Abu Kigenyi.

The reigning champions will never remain happy for having finished below the current leaders, Vipers and arch rivals, SC Villa.

Therefore, the fixture at Bugonga on Tuesday presents the best expression of the desire to win for the two sides.

KCC are fresh from overcoming Cameroonian champions, Cosmos De Bafia in the CAF Champions league preliminary first round tie (opening leg) and will look to replicate the first round damage to Entebbe (3-0 at Lugogo back then).

The champions have also signed several players in the ranks of goal keeper, Benjamin Ochan (from SCVU), Timothy Awani (Kibuli S.S), Joseph Ochaya (Ghana’s Asante Kotoko) and Francis Olaki (From Albanian FC Tirana).

Simon Namwanja (left) playing for KCC against Cosmos De Bafia. He returns to the Bugonga ground, where he has played since childhood

KCC F.C left back Simon Namwanja returns to a ground onto which he has been playing since childhood.

The beauty of this fixture is one; KCC is plotting a victory to play catch up with the leaders and retain the title as Entebbe F.C is fighting relegation against all odds.

SC Villa Vs Sadolin Paints F.C – Nakivubo Stadium

In the City center, Kampala (at Nakivubo Stadium), 16 time record champions, Sports Club Villa hosts Jinja Bugembe based side, Sadolin Paints F.C.

Sadolin Paints F.C is out to avenge the first round board room loss to SC Villa , after the Bugembe fans caused the abandonment of the game with SC Villa leading 2-1 (less than 10 minutes were remaining).

SC Villa will miss their new recruit, Abdul Karim Kasule (signed from Big league side, Katale) as he is one of the 25 players currently at the FUFA Njeru Technical center with the U-23 (Kobs)team.

In Kasule’s absence, there are quite a number of other players who will fill in the void.
    ???????????????????????????????
SC Villa’s former midfielder, David Bagoole (left) in action against Sadolin Paints at Bugembe Stadium during the tie that was abandoned by violent fans. Bagoole has since departed for Sofapaka F.C in the Kenyan Premier League.

New Signings, Modest Aloro (right back), Augustine Nsumba, Jimmy Mukumbya are some of the SC Villa players expected to play part.

Sadolin Paints’ most consistent player in the first round, Andrew Basooma, team captain, Allan Oreyk, midfield dynamo – Peter Katumba and goal keeper, Muhammed Didi will give SC Villa a torrid time.

Simba S.C Vs Rwenshama F.C – Bombo Military Barracks Stadium

Simba Sports Club won the first leg 1-3 away in Mityana where Rwenshama F.C was hosting their home games back then.

Rwenshama F.C has now moved to Lugogo Stadium, but the Tuesday game will be played at the ever intimidating Bombo Military stadium.

Rwenshama has hired a new coach, Charles Ayiekho, replacing Shafik Bisaso, who threw in the towel last November and signed Kenneth Tumusiime to replace striker, Julius Malingimu (now at Vipers Sports Club).

A win for the bottom placed Rwenshama will help the club kick start a relegation battle with star player being Jamada Katabi.

Simba, coached by Uganda Sanda Cranes head coach, Harunah Kebba will look to the magic of left back, Raymond Edema, whose solid defending and attacking exploits have lifted Simba S.C at all times.

Uganda Revenue Authority Vs BUL F.C – Mehta Stadium, Lugazi
Like KCC, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) is another club fresh from continental duty.

URA F.C, coached by Alex Isabirye showed typical fighting spirit, coming from a goal down on two different occasions to defeat Madagascar club, ASSM Elegco Plus F.C.

Against BUL F.C, the script is expected to be totally different as both sides battle fiercely at every time of meeting.

The Kakindu based side sacked their head coach, Kefa Kisala (also Uganda Cranes Assistant coach) and his former assistant, Joseph Mutyaba is now head coach, assisted by former player, Hussein Kato and Bright Dhaira.
    ura
URA Starting XI against ASSM Elegco Plus F.C

URA signed former SCVU players, Yasser Mugerwa and Noah Semakula whilst Bul F.C only released veteran striker Yusuf Kinene and recommitted Robert Achema to another 2 year deal worth U.shs 10M.

    Players to Watch:

Robert Sentongo, who scored a double over Elegeco Plus F.C last Friday at Nelson Mandela Stadium, Namboole remains the biggest threat in front of goal.

The safe gloves of goal keeper, Brian ‘Ziggi’ Bwete, Muhammed Feni Saidi Kyeyune and Patrick Ochan’s trickery in the middle of the pack, winger Elukana Nkugwa and Striker Frank Kalanda will be key for URA.

Bul F.C will miss Hashim Sempala and Robert Achema (with Kobs at Njeru) but equally have potential replacements in Asuman Bajampola, left back, Hakim Magombe and team skipper, Patrick ‘Crespo’ Asiku.

May the better teams carry the day.

Despite goal keeper, Yasin Mugabi’s saved effort (from Polisi’s Salim Mukungu), midfielder, Ivan Ntege, striker William Wadri and left back Simon Namwanja missed to send the defending champions out.

Vipers now accumulate 35 points and they are the official Uganda Premier League Christmas champions.

At Kakindu Stadium, BUL F.C skipper, Patrick ‘Crespo‘ Asiku gave the home team a 29th minute lead with his customary headed goal, his second of the campaign.

This was after a well curled in corner from Joshua Masene that easily beat the entire URA back line.

Rwenshama F.C were missing their lead scorer, Julius Malingumu, who has notched 5 goals of the campaign so far.

At Kavumba Recreational Stadium, Fred Kalanzi’s first half brace helped Lweza F.C topple Police F.C at their own grave yard.

Express Football Club was left in total shock following a last minute gasp match winning goal from veteran Hamis Kitagenda at the Mutesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.

I urge the people of Buikwe and the football fans in particular to work with the club administration towards eliminating such bad hearted individuals. Vipers FC Management will n
